We had a special visitor at Pacific Neuroscience Institute in October 2024—Mamadou, a true gentle giant. Diagnosed with gigantism at 16, Mamadou experienced severe headaches and vision problems as he shot up more than a foot in just one year. An MRI revealed a growth hormone-secreting tumor on his pituitary gland. After an initial surgery couldn't fully remove the tumor, his family turned to Dr. Daniel F. Kelly, MD. Thanks to Dr. Kelly’s successful surgery, Mamadou not only recovered but thrived. He went on to have a remarkable basketball career in high school, college, and professionally. Now, at 7’6”, Mamadou is in peak health. He recently returned to visit his care team—Dr. Kelly, Dr. Chester Griffiths MD, FACS, and nurse practitioner Amy Eisenberg—14 years after his life-changing surgery. “I’m so grateful for Dr. Kelly, Amy, and Dr. Griffiths," Mamadou shared. "I wouldn’t be here without them.” Watch Mamadou share his inspiring journey and heartfelt gratitude for the team at Pacific Neuroscience Institute, reflecting on how their care transformed his life. #gigantism #acromegaly #gratefulpatient #pituitarytumor #PacificNeuro

Dr. Courtney Voelker, MD PhD performed the surgery and Dr. Rebecca Lewis activated the cochlear implants. The doctors discuss the positive developmental outcomes seen in children who receive implants at a very young age, emphasizing early intervention for hearing loss in children. Curious about the link between diet and brain health? 🧠 In this Think Neuro Mini Podcast, Jennifer Bramen, PhD, discusses how insulin resistance, a key factor in Alzheimer’s, can be influenced by diet. Research shows that reducing carbohydrates not only helps manage insulin resistance but also leads to thicker cortices—more gray matter in your brain, measured via MRI. These findings highlight how dietary changes can support healthy aging and cognitive health. 🎧 Listen to this episode on your favorite podcast platform. #BrainHealth #HealthyAging #AlzheimersAwareness #CognitiveHealth #DietAndHealth #Neuroscience #Podcast #ThinkNeuro #InsulinResistance #CarbReduction #HealthyLifestyle #PreventiveCare
