  • At PTC'25, join us on Monday, 20 January at 9:15am HST for Center Stage Session "Private Equity Meets Tech: The Future of Digital Infrastructure Investments" featuring Gautam Bhandari, Co-founder, Global Chief Investment Officer & Managing Partner, I Squared Capital; Jonathan Mauck, Senior Managing Director, DigitalBridge Investment Management; William Smales, Partner & CIO, MORRISON; Jan Vesely, Partner, EQT PARTNERS, INC; & Brandon Amber, Managing Director, Palladium Equity Partners, LLC. For decades, the top five U.S. tech companies have spent over $180 billion annually on infrastructure, with private investment firms using low-cost capital to follow their lead globally. In 2024, new investment models emerged, including collaborations between hyperscalers and pension funds, along with increased government involvement in regulation and investments. We’re also seeing the emergence of low-cost models where hyperscalers own the infrastructure directly or acquire shells and conduits. This panel will explore growth opportunities for the next decade, the impact of AI deployments, and when fiber might regain its early 2000s value. • Listen to the PTC'DC Session: A Perspective of China from Three Former CEOs “China is in its own category - too big to ignore, too repressive to embrace, difficult to influence, and very, very proud” - Madeline Albright In this session, Marc Halbfinger, Justin Mallen and William Barney, three PTC members and former CEOs of Chinese companies discuss life working in the Chinese state-controlled digital infrastructure and the transformation that has happened in the country over the quarter century. They also explore how the business model will work for submarine cables, data centers, and tech supply chains as the situation in Chain evolves. Key Questions to be addressed: What are the key differences between the Chinese regulatory system and the US/European system as seen from the inside? The GBA has long been seen as the hot bed of technology manufacturing and innovation in China. Will it continue or will Taiwan and Hong Kong for the last two decades have been a data center hub and of the main hubs for submarine cables in East Asia? IN the current climate how import ant a role will Taiwan play? With the shift in geopolitics, which markets are emerging as the new spots in Asia for digital infrastructure investments? ▶️View it here: https://lnkd.in/gk8u9Gr3

  • Thanks so all who joined us at PTC'DC in September! We’re excited to unveil the PTC'DC session recording, “Digital Dominance: Asian Impact, Security, and Outlook,” featuring Nathaniel Fick, Ambassador-at-Large, Bureau of Cyberspace and Digital Policy, U.S. Department of State and William Barney, Chairman of PTC and Asian Century Equity. “Technology is now 'the game,' and we must engage in this geopolitical competition boldly and with urgency on behalf of our values and interests.” – Nathaniel Fick, U.S. Ambassador at Large for Cyberspace and Digital Policy As our world enters a more sophisticated digital generation, the acceleration of Asian dominance has amplified the importance of digital infrastructure. Initially driven by the private sector, assets such as submarine cables, data centers, and satellites have transitioned into strategic assets for countries and regions, impacting not only economic growth but state security. With technologies like cloud computing, artificial intelligence (AI), and machine learning (ML) increasingly integrated into these assets, security becomes geometrically more important than ever. During this fireside chat with The Honorable Nathaniel Fick, U.S. Ambassador at Large for Cyberspace and Digital Policy, we explore the evolution of digital infrastructure in Asia and its impact on the world, from a U.S. government perspective.
