As of Nov. 21, 2024, employees can now use MA earned sick time for: -Their own or their spouse’s physical or mental health needs resulting from: -Pregnancy loss -Failed attempts at assisted reproduction, adoption, or surrogacy ⚠️ Important: This law applies to all employers in Massachusetts. 💡 Action Item: Update your earned sick time policy to include this new leave reason to ensure compliance. While the look and feel of end-of-year holiday parties have changed over the years, they remain a popular part of the American office culture. But given diverse religious views, employers who would like to be inclusive around the holidays may need to do more than name the year-end holiday party something neutral. To create an inclusive holiday environment: -Get Employee Input on which holidays they observe and how they’d like to celebrate. -Celebrate Year-Round by marking diverse holidays to build respect and awareness. -Keep Year-End Neutral by focusing on team achievements rather than specific traditions.   • 🚨 Massachusetts Employers: HIRD Form Early Reminder 🚨 If you have 6+ employees (including in-state and out-of-state employees working in MA), you are required to submit the Health Insurance Responsibility Disclosure (HIRD) form annually. Here’s what you need to know: -Filing Period: Available November 15 & Due December 15 -Where to File: Log in to your MassTaxConnect (MTC) account, go to the  Withholding tax account, then select File Health Insurance Responsibility Disclosure. -Purpose: Helps identify MassHealth members with access to employer-sponsored insurance (ESI) for potential eligibility in the MassHealth Premium Assistance Program. -Requirement: Must file if you reported 6+ employees in any DUA wage report over the past 12 months. Stay compliant by filing electronically—no paper forms accepted!
