In a 2024 survey, 91% of industry professionals reported increased patient retention as a key benefit of mobile visits in clinical trials. Community-based research activities, such as mobile visits, reduce the burden on participants, improve protocol compliance, and expand trial access for historically underrepresented populations. Notably, trials utilizing mobile visits have demonstrated expedited enrollment periods – by an average of 6.18 months – compared to traditional models. As 2024 comes to a close, we’re reflecting on a transformative year at PCM Trials – one defined by growth, integration, and a steadfast focus on improving patient access to clinical research. This year, we achieved significant milestones: the acquisitions of Clinical Trial Service B.V. and EmVenio Research expanded our global footprint, strengthened our capabilities, and embedded us even more deeply in the communities we serve. As a result, we now have the ability to reach more patients than ever before, breaking down barriers to participation in clinical research for historically underrepresented populations. In 2024, we unified our teams around a shared vision, streamlined our business development operations, and successfully integrated our site-based and mobile research services into one seamless, community-based research model. In our latest blog, Jeff Huntsman, Chief Commercial Officer at PCM Trials, reflects on the successes of 2024 and shares bold priorities for 2025. If you’re a sponsor or CRO, this is your invitation to see how PCM Trials is preparing to meet the industry’s most pressing challenges head-on in the new year. Social determinants of health (SDOH) like housing, transportation, and social support play a powerful role in clinical trial participation. Yet, they’re often overlooked. Discover why addressing SDOH isn’t just important—it’s essential for achieving diversity, improving patient retention, and ensuring real-world relevance in study results. Ready to unlock the potential of inclusive research? The data is clear: underrepresented populations still face major barriers to clinical trial participation. From 2017-2024, over 70% of US-based trial participants identified as white, leaving underrepresented groups largely excluded. At the same time, mentions of ‘diversity in clinical trials’ in sponsor filings have surged by 300% , signaling an urgent commitment to change. Community-based research models reduce logistical and geographical barriers, broadening trial accessibility for traditionally underrepresented populations. By meeting patients in their homes and communities, we help sponsors meet FDA diversity benchmarks and ensure equitable, representative research. Learn more about how community-based research models extend the reach of clinical trials to facilitate greater participation for underrepresented groups in our latest article: https://lnkd.in/gtsBzZ3B #AccessForAll #EquityInResearch #Diversity #ClinicalTrialDiversity

In our most recent webinar, Stephanie Hitchcock and Kristofer Booth, MBA explored recent FDA guidance on diversity in clinical trials, emphasizing the critical role of diversity action plans in improving enrollment and retention of underrepresented populations. The conversation focused on how to make highly inclusive trials a reality through actionable, patient-centric strategies, including the use of mobile visits and community-based research sites. These approaches help remove barriers to participation to expand the reach of clinical trials and ensure that research reflects the diversity needed to drive better health outcomes for all.
