Peace at Home provides services and support to survivors of domestic violence and their children in Northwest Arkansas.
About us
The mission of Peace at Home Family Shelter is to empower victims of domestic violence to survive and thrive by nurturing their self-determination and courage; to promote healthy relationships and compassionate communities through education, outreach, and advocacy. Peace at Home is a private, 501(c)3, nonprofit organization based in Fayetteville, Arkansas. Founded in 1977 by a group of community members, Peace at Home was the very first domestic violence shelter in the state of Arkansas. The goal of the organization is to help every individual safely and successfully leave a domestic violence situation. We strive to meet this goal by providing the following programs to women, men, children, and individuals: a 24-hour crisis hotline, an emergency shelter with capacity for 14 families, transitional housing assistance, outreach assistance, legal services, and counseling support. All services are confidential and free of charge. Each year, Peace at Home supports over 1,000 individuals each year as they seek safety and independence.

Last Wednesday, we hosted the 12th Annual Courage Awards Luncheon presented by C&C Services. 360 dedicated supporters joined us to celebrate the start of Domestic Violence Awareness Month and the efforts of those who have made an important difference in the lives of domestic violence survivors and their children. This year, Peace at Home had the distinct pleasure of recognizing The Honorable Joanna Taylor as the 2024 Courage Awardee. Judge Taylor’s consistent prioritization of victim protection and family rehabilitation has made a significant impact on the way survivors navigate the legal system. Peace at Home is incredibly grateful for her advocacy and tireless work. Together, we raised over $45,000 to provide safe shelter and support to families fleeing abuse here in our community! To everyone who was able to attend, donate, volunteer, or offer their services at this special event— thank you for making this possible! #courageawardsluncheon #peaceathome #nwastrong #nwarkansas #fayettevillear #springdalear #rogersar #bentonvillear #supportsurvivors #enddomesticviolence Photography by Chris Lastra

Today we’re celebrating our amazing team of counselors, including the MSW students who joined Peace at Home’s intern cohort this year! In 2023, the counseling team helped over 70 adults and kids in NWA recover from domestic violence. We’re so grateful for the work they’re doing to help survivors in our community find hope and healing. #StaffAppreciation #Counseling #Shelter #SupportSurvivors #DomesticViolence #Internship #PeaceAtHomeShelter
