🎉 We're thrilled to welcome 19 new Peace Corps Trainees to the Kingdom of Tonga! This exceptional group includes our groundbreaking Climate Resilience Trainees, the first of their kind in Peace Corps worldwide. These pioneers will work with communities, local government, and NGOs to combat climate change, build resilience, and manage natural disaster risks. Equally, we're proud of our Education Volunteers in this cohort, who continue to engage with local communities through the power of learning. Their dedication and passion inspire students and educators alike. Welcome Trainees! 🤝

The Peace Corps is closely monitoring Hurricane Beryl as it passes through the Caribbean. All Peace Corps Jamaica and Eastern Caribbean Volunteers are safe and accounted for and supported by staff who have been trained to handle emergencies. Our thoughts are with the people in the Caribbean as they face the impact of the hurricane.

One of the ways that you can get involved with us is through the Peace Corps Partnership Program (PCPP), which connects Volunteers and their communities with the private sector in the U.S. and around the world to fund community initiated and led projects. Staff from more than 50 countries recently gathered in Atlanta for the Global Small Grants Coordinators Workshop to connect, ideate, and share best practices on supporting small, community-based grants. Each donation to the PCPP is directed to a Volunteer project and local community! Learn more here: https://bit.ly/3VRw37s

Peace Corps Deputy Director David E. White Jr. met with Congressman Gabe Amo to discuss the transformative impact of service and how we can support Peace Corps Volunteers serving around the world. Rhode Island has a rich legacy of service that goes all the way back to the start of the Peace Corps. That's exemplified by the more than 1,100 Rhode Islanders who have answered the call to serve and work in partnership with local communities to advance peace and friendship.
