About us

Peerbagh is an independent 501c3 nonprofit with a mission to make the world more inclusive for ALL children by helping them build their creative confidence to build diverse stories. We publish South-Asian-inspired storytelling workshops, children’s books, story capsules, and toolkits for children, educators, and families. With this work, Peerbagh’s mission is to decolonize our media and make the world more inclusive, one story at a time. We host storytelling workshops with children (generally aged 6-14 years), and educators (K-12) sharing South-Asia-inspired storytelling techniques. The goal of these workshops is to bring in a diverse perspective and develop creative thinking in an engaging manner. We also seek to promote South-Asian literature, arts, and storytelling techniques. Besides workshops, we publish or curate books from South-Asian creators. We also produce South-Asian story capsules and toolkits for families and educators! For questions or if you'd like to connect with us, please drop a note at namaste[at]peerbagh.com

  • The #1 question we get at story events or via email is: What book can my child read? For parents of teens, it's more like: My child was a reader, but now they just grunt and stay in their room. Help! So, we asked our team to come up a list of South-Asian books for teens. These books practically jumped onto the list themselves (with some gentle nudging). Oh, and while technically BENTO isn’t a book, teens are obsessed with it. So yeah, it made the cut too—because we’re cool like that. Did we miss anything? Drop your recommendations below (or just vent about your grumpy teen, we’re here for it). 😊 #bookrecommendations #fridayfollow #booksforteens #readinglove

  • In 2024, our team collectively read over 300 books. Why read, you ask? Why eat? [sorry, we get a little too excited sometimes 😅] Reading is soul food, y’all. It’s like opening a magical door to new worlds, epic adventures, and cultures...you get the drift. Good. Now go grab our SMART reading goals printable (made for Bento members) and let’s make 2025 the year of reading like a boss: 📚✨ https://buff.ly/3HvX8X3 #readinggoals #familyreading #2025startstrong
