Happy Thanksgiving, from Pennrose!

As we gear up for Thanksgiving, Pennrose is excited to celebrate some of the incredible work going on at our incredible community gardens. In partnership with nonprofit Trellis for Tomorrow, Don Coppedge’s Community Garden hosted its annual summer program offering youth participants ages 12-18 to become members of their “earn while you learn” SEED Skills Crew Program. This program provides meaningful opportunities to build work-related skills while learning to manage organic gardens, engage in relationships and participate in the creation of youth-led enterprises that increase access to local, nutritious, and affordable food. Each year, this program contributes nearly 2,000 pounds of fresh produce back to residents and local organizations fighting food insecurity.

The groundbreaking of Ascent at Hover Crossing marks an exciting milestone for Longmont, Colorado, a city that's among the fastest growing in the United States. In collaboration with the Longmont Housing Authority, the 75-unit affordable housing community will feature a mix of one-, two-, three-, and four-bedroom apartments for families at a wide range of incomes. The project will also include a state-of-the-art Early Childhood Education center operated by Wild Plum Center, a trusted local nonprofit dedicated to providing subsidized early education for low-income families. The groundbreaking of Sankofa Village Phase IV represents a major milestone for Cleveland’s Central neighborhood, marking the final chapter in the $115 million Cedar Extension Transformation Plan.
