"...people who could be working can’t afford to enter the workforce because they can’t afford the cost of living, the cost of childcare,” Tepper-Bates (CEO of United Way Connecticut) said. “So, if we can lift up our communities, then we lift up our state.” At P2P, we see these challenges every day, and we're committed to providing the resources families need to achieve greater stability and opportunity. https://lnkd.in/eRksaex2

Recently, our CEO, Nancy Coughlin, sat down with Michael Dinan, host of the 0684-Radi0 podcast, to discuss P2P's journey and mission. In this episode, Nancy shares how P2P was founded in 1968 and how we’ve grown over the years. She also discusses the vital support we receive from New Canaan residents, where we've seen a 30% increase in those we serve. As the need continues to rise across lower Fairfield County, we depend on the community’s support to provide food, clothing, and financial assistance. Housing insecurity is a critical challenge we see daily at P2P. When families are forced to spend the majority of their income on rent, it leaves little for essentials like food and healthcare. This op-ed by Rep. Travis Simms highlights an urgent issue that affects so many in our community. We're committed to supporting those facing housing challenges, providing services that offer some stability while we all work towards long-term solutions like affordable housing. https://lnkd.in/dq7zVmyn

Yesterday, we held a press conference and ribbon cutting to announce the expansion of "P2P on Wheels" with the launch of a second mobile food pantry in Stamford. This new pantry doubles our capacity to reach more families and individuals, ensuring greater access to healthy food in their own neighborhoods. With 12% of Stamford residents facing food insecurity, this expansion is crucial. The mobile pantry will provide fresh produce, pantry staples, and protein options, as well as evening and weekend hours, making it easier for more people to get the food they need. In addition to food, our bilingual caseworkers will provide access to other vital support services, including housing, financial assistance, and job training resources — addressing the broader challenges many families face. Learn more about how you can support this initiative by visiting p2pHelps.org.
