About us
Personalized Arthroplasty Society (PAS) is focused on the development and promotion of personalized and more physiological techniques for hip and knee replacement. These techniques aim to better reproduce patients’ native anatomy and physiological joint laxity, therefore improving the prosthetic hip/knee kinematics and functional outcomes. The PAS will pave the way for the paradigm shift from systematic to personalised surgery.

It was exciting to be part of #AOAOFall24 today. Thank you American Osteopathic Academy of Orthopedics for the invite. My sincerest appreciation to Dr. James Eberhardt for having me be a part of the Adult Reconstruction session and the opportunity to present an overview of the proposed classification from the Personalized Arthroplasty Society (PAS) for the total knee alignment techniques. It forces me to reflect on the work that the scientific committee from PAS did over the past two years. No doubt, these engaged & passionate Saturday meetings were worth it. Thank you all for your continuous support: Ruxi Marinescu, Ph.D., Nanne Kort, MD, PhD, Dr.med. Dragan Jeremić, Cécile Batailler, James Eberhardt, Fabrizio Billi, Antonio Klasan, Mark Clatworthy, Stefano Campi, Edoardo Franceschetti, Biagio Zampogna, Gabriel B. Roby; HIROSHI WATANABE, Laurent Angibaud Aside from the Adult Reconstruction session, I was glad to: - Attend the General Business session, a great opportunity to learn more about billing and coding, - Exchange with surgeons & colleagues, notably thank you Corey Jackson for your insights, - Log a few miles along the Charles River before the very end of the day!

Reflections on my journey co-founding the Personalized Arthroplasty Society Four years ago, Charles Rivière , Pascal-André Vendittoli and I co-founded the Personalized Arthroplasty Society (PAS). We were joined shortly after by Stephen Howell, Prof. Dr.med. Michael Hirschmann, MD. and 2 years later by our Executive Director Curtis Ksenak, MBA Together, we launched PAS with a mission: to promote the personalization of arthroplasty around the world. We recognized that a patient’s needs in Tokyo differ from those in New Delhi, San Francisco, or Rome. #Personalization, from surgical alignment strategies to perioperative care, would change based on the social, cultural, and economic differences that shape patient care in different contexts. PAS was born to be a catalyst for innovation in the personalization of the entire #patientjourney. To meet this challenge, we envisioned a new type of medical society. PAS would break away from traditional, hierarchical structures. Instead, PAS would adopt a "hub and spoke" model where multiple international chapters are linked by a common communication, research, and management infrastructure (the spokes) provided by a central organization (the hub). This approach would allow each chapter to independently address its unique needs while benefiting from the shared knowledge of the PAS community, thus creating a network effect with global reach. Furthermore, PAS would aim to be inclusive by engaging all stakeholders in the patient journey, providing a platform for innovative voices advocating for change to be heard. We would prioritize education through #webinars, world-class #inpersonmeetings, and #scholarship. PAS would further drive #discovery and #innovation by developing its own #researchinfrastructure, leveraging our global network for data collection through advanced technology, and standardizing the nomenclature in this evolving landscape. As I step down from the Executive Board, we are over 300 strong including dozens of engineers, and touch over 30 countries. We have held webinars and annual meetings of exceptional quality in Europe and the US. We have published our first set of definitions and built a scalable tech stack anouncing last week a partnership with moveUP - digital therapies for member-driven data collection. PAS is also supporting the launch of the first two Chapters: PAS India and PAS Japan. It was an honor to work alongside Pascal, Charles, and Michael to create PAS and make it so successful in such a short time. We are lucky to have Morteza Meftah joining leadership and Curtis as a line of continuity. Special thanks to Gina Baxter, Karl Kirsch, and Chuck Raggio, PE, who got us going when we were nascent. Thanks to Founding Members like Nanne Kort, MD, PhD Ruxi Marinescu, Ph.D. Dr.med. Dragan Jeremić Philip Winnock de Grave, MD, PhD, Pier Francesco Indelli, Russell Bodner, Justin Cobb, yaron bar ziv and too many others to list. If you like our vision, know you are welcome.
