Philippines certifies 17.6 GW of renewables under CEPNS program The government of the Philippines issued Certificates of Energy Projects of National Significance (CEPNS) for 149 power and transmission projects between May and December 2024, covering 91 renewable energy projects totaling 17.6 GW of capacity. The Philippines’ Department of Energy (DOE) issued Certificates of Energy Projects of National Significance (CEPNS) to 149 power generation and transmission projects between May and December 2024, following the resumption of CEPNS issuance in October 2023. CEPNS fast-tracks approvals for energy projects in the Philippines, granting priority processing and regulatory support. It supports solar development by easing permitting for large-scale PV installations. https://lnkd.in/gry5qRMg

SMC Global Power unveils a massive energy expansion! With 2,400 MWp of solar projects, small-scale LNG developments, and a 1,000 MWh battery energy storage expansion, SMGP is leading the charge toward energy security in the Philippines. As part of its diversified energy investment strategy, the company is also progressing with the Masinloc Power Plant expansion, which will add 700 MW of coal capacity by 2026, reinforcing its position as one of the leading power developers in the country. SMGP, through its wholly owned subsidiary, SMC Global Light and Power Corp. (SGLPC), is actively developing a solar power portfolio in collaboration with potential partners. The company has outlined a two-phase rollout, with the first phase targeting 1,300 MWp across various sites in Luzon, including Bataan, Bulacan, and Isabela, scheduled for completion by 2028. The second phase, adding an additional 1,100 MWp, will be deployed in Pagbilao, Bohol, and Mindanao, with operations expected by 2039. https://lnkd.in/gDaCvbHb

#greatnews #Philippinespowergrid PHP 5 Billion in NGCP Transmission Projects Get ERC Nod to Strengthen Power Infrastructure The Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) has given the green light to four transmission projects by the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP), with a total capital expenditure of P5 billion. The projects, which include the Granada, Sumangga, and La Carlota substations, as well as the Nagsaag-Tumana transmission line, aim to prevent power overloading, enhance supply reliability, and meet growing electricity demand in key areas. Among those approved by the ERC is the Granada 230-kilovolt (kV) substation project with a total budget of P1.943 billion. Expected to be completed by August 31, 2028, this project will be constructed to ease transformer congestion at the Bacolod Substation, ensuring a more stable power supply for the growing electricity needs of Bacolod and surrounding areas. https://lnkd.in/gSyHc6UR
