Exciting news in the world of sustainable design: New York City’s first Passive House-certified public schools have opened in Downtown Brooklyn! Designed by Architecture Research Office (ARO), these groundbreaking schools—part of the Alloy Block mixed-use development—set a new standard for energy efficiency, comfort, and resilience in education. Consuming less than a third of the energy of a typical NYC public school, this project highlights the power of Passive House principles in creating healthy, high-performance spaces for learning.
