As we all gear up for Q3 of 2024, this is a good time to ask yourself, "Where's my motivation level?" Recently, I had a conversation with a CEO client where trust was clearly the big issue. So today, to keep it top of mind for all, I’m resharing one of the classics that couldn’t be any more true for leaders today. According to a study highlighted in his talk, Stephen M.R. Covey says that high-trust organizations outperform low-trust organizations by 3x. If you let that sink in for just a minute, that means that trust is vital not only to your culture but also your financial performance. An expression I tend to champion is “Don’t bring a problem unless you also bring a solution.” Your probable solution doesn’t have to be the best or final answer, but having one shows positive, forward initiative. My clients often share problems with me – often of their team members sharing problems with them – but in most of these situations, rarely does anyone stop to ask - much less answer - the question “What am I going to do about it?” This 4-minute listen will teach you a simple approach you can apply immediately with yourself and those you manage, which can then be implemented with their team members and so on.
