Thank you to the Pulse team for all the work they are doing! Happy to hear about another life saved with Capnospot from tension pneumothorax! Glad we can make the job a little easier in our small way. #firstaid #emergency #bethedifference #savinglives #medicaltraining #trauma #PHTLS #CommunityHealth #NAEMT
🔵🟡 CapnoSpot in Action: Enhancing Combat Medic Efficiency in Ukraine Thanks to Johnathon Aho our team at PULSE - Tactical medicine for Ukraine has introduced CapnoSpot during training sessions for UAF and distributed devices among Ukrainian combat medics. We’ve already received feedback on its successful use in the field! In the challenging environment of a warzone, every second counts. Ukrainian combat medics are constantly adding innovative tools to their arsenal to save lives. One such tool making a difference is CapnoSpot, a device designed by Pneumeric, Inc. to provide visual confirmation of needle chest decompression (NCD) placement during tension pneumothorax. This gives providers increased confidence in placement, even under austere conditions. The general effectiveness of NCD is usually a subject to debate — catheters may only provide temporary symptom relief, tend to kink or easily become blocked, or can be mispositioned, etc. While chest tube placement or finger thoracostomy are better treatments, they require higher level of care and are more time-consuming. If NCD is the immediate intervention to buy extra time, having a tool like CapnoSpot offers better feedback to a provider than listening for a “gush of air” or waiting for vitals to improve. 📹 In the attached video, a combat medic, assesses a casualty with a chest wound before loading him onto a CASEVAC. After identifying progressive respiratory distress, the medic performs NCD using CapnoSpot for confirmation. The casualty was successfully evacuated, had a chest tube placed at a higher level of care, and is now recovering. 💬 Have you worked with CapnoSpot or similar tools in tactical settings?
