The highest reported barrier to college attendance among 18 to 39-year-olds who have not attended college is cost, according to Data for Progress. Climbing admission costs unevenly affect LGBTQ students, who take out more student loans to go to college than their non-LGBTQ peers. For many LGBTQ students, college represents a refuge from unaccepting families and unwelcoming communities. However, these college communities are not tenable solutions for LGBTQ students if students cannot afford to graduate or if they find themselves under crushing debt post-graduation. https://lnkd.in/gzg2URvP

Anti-LGBTQ legislation like Georgia lawmakers' plan to ban transgender student-athletes doesn’t only affect trans athletes. This news makes trans and nonbinary students across the country feel targeted and unwanted. LGBTQ students belong on college campuses, and we must make sure they have the same opportunities as their peers. https://lnkd.in/gGqjAtbX
