Systemiq Capital’s investment focus is shaped by two factors: the urgent need to confront the climate crisis and the immense potential of scalable companies offering transformative climate-tech solutions. We absolutely loved working with Systemiq Capital on their latest Climate Report, and getting to know more about some of the amazing solutions their portfolio companies are scaling… 🍴Hoxton Farms: cultivating real animal fat – without the animals – by combining cell biology and mathematical modelling. 🔋 Circulor: tracking raw materials through complex supply chains, digitally mapping their journey from the mine site all the way to their final use. 🛩️ ZeroAvia: producing hydrogen-electric powertrains that replace conventional engines in planes, emitting only water vapour and heat when in operation. 🔌 Ohme: providing a charging system that is smarter, greener and cheaper for at-home EV charging. ⚡️ Ren: helping businesses with large supply chains meet their carbon reduction targets by consolidating regional renewable energy demands. 🌎 CoolPlanet: enabling companies to collect, analyse and action data to deliver both energy efficiency and decarbonisation solutions. 🏠 Qualis Flow (Qflow): helping companies in the built environment better track, manage, and dispose of materials, reducing both waste and embodied carbon. 🧬 NatureMetrics: using environmental DNA (eDNA) analysis to provide comprehensive biodiversity insights that are richer and quicker than traditional methods. 🔬 Basecamp Research: making the restoration of biodiversity economically attractive by accelerating the discovery and development of naturally occurring novel proteins with broad applications in food, pharmaceuticals, and bioremediation. 🌾 Charm Industrial: enabling permanent storage of carbon through their unique process, converting waste biomass into bio-oil and safely injecting it underground. Check out more about what makes them unique in the report below, and drop us a message if you’re looking for help with communicating your impact 📈
We’ve published our second climate report! For me, the best part is hearing the stories from our climate founders and leaders. They all have the ability to “swoop and soar”. They are disrupting the status quo so must maintain a view on how their company influences the systems they operate in, bringing others along on the journey. At the same time, they must be deep in the details of fine-tuning their solution. This, alongside their steadfast commitment to their individual missions, is what enables our founders to ride through the lows, capture the highs, and ultimately succeed. Dive in to hear from CoolPlanet ZeroAvia Basecamp Research Circulor NatureMetrics Hoxton Farms Ohme Qualis Flow (Qflow) Ren Charm Industrial and beyond. As many of you know, an extraordinary amount of work goes in to these things. My thanks to Sammi Gower at Pollen & Company for her partnership. We are always learning – please get in touch if you have any thoughts on the direction our next report should go in! #venturecapital #climatetech https://lnkd.in/e4WNs2YG

The ever evolving and complex landscape of sustainability reporting is challenging to navigate… Making sure this is tied into your sustainability strategy is an important step to future-proofing your business. But why is it so important? 🌍 Even if not directly impacted, SME’s that don’t consider the wider regulatory landscape risk missing out on winning business with organisations that do already need to comply. 🤝 Getting your house in order sooner rather than later can help you implement transformative changes and standardise data collection processes. 🌟 Not only will it help you meet decarbonisation requirements, but it will also mean you remain competitive! #Regulation #Sustainability #Impact

Will the ‘Great Grid Partnership’ be a big step forward for the UK in meeting net zero targets? To support the expansion and deployment of renewable energy, National Grid has launched a partnership with seven firms from the UK's energy infrastructure supply chain. What’s the driving force behind this team up? 🛠️ The primary task will be designing and implementing the infrastructure needed for nine major clean energy projects across England and Wales, before 2030. 💰The project could inject up to £18.4bn to the UK's economy, as well as supporting 220,000 jobs each year up to 2035. ✅ Upgrading the network will be vital for the successful adoption of renewable energy, helping us get to net zero faster. #NetZero #Sustainability #RenewableEnergy

Such a great initiative from the WWF today, who are currently beta testing a (free!) Global Farm Loss Tool. Working with The Consumer Goods Forum's Food Waste Coalition, the WWF have developed a tool aimed at reducing food loss on farms, which is the critical point where a staggering 15% (or 1.2 billion tonnes) of all food produced is lost. So what does the tool do? 🥬 Provides both growers and buyers with actionable insights to better understand produce loss and ultimately use more of what they grow. 🤝 Integrates with existing frameworks (e.g. the Sustainable Food Trust’s Global Farm Metric) to better predict on scope 3 emissions in relation to food loss. 🍓 Operates in line with the United Nations SDG target 12.3, to cut global food loss & waste by 50% by 2030. #FoodLoss #CarbonEmissions #Sustainability
