We’re out of the office for winter break, recharging in our own ways—baking, curling up with books, and soaking up time with family and friends. We’ll be back on January 6th, refreshed and ready to do what we do best: shift the progressive movement toward scale, self-determination, and sustainability! ✨ Wishing you a joyful and restful holiday season, see you in the new year! 🌿

The PM finances revenue generation projects for progressive organizations, and in turn, shares fundraising knowledge.
About us
We are a funding intermediary that provides funding, training and strategic assistance to progressive nonprofits doing independent revenue generation projects through both a c3 and a c4 fund. Think of us as the fundraising infrastructure support and R&D arm of the movement. We figure out what works for different types of groups to raise money and share those models movement-wide through our online learning community and training programs. In addition to raising money from institutional philanthropy, we also raise our own through Multiplier Effect. This LLC provides a values-aligned, ethically priced alternative for progressive nonprofits seeking fundraising, marketing, and organizational consulting services. All profits from Multiplier Effect are used by Progressive Multiplier Action Fund, our c4, to make grants and provide strategic assistance to movement groups to support their independent revenue generation efforts.

How can philanthropy more effectively measure its impact on systems change? “As funders of social impact increasingly shift toward addressing the systemic nature of problems and their root causes within complex networks of cause and effect, making long-term commitments of patient capital requires funders to learn to evaluate their impact more comprehensively. However, they face a tricky balancing act: They need to grasp the complexity and ever-shifting nature of the systems they seek to change, but they also need constant feedback loops that signal progress towards impact goals.” Philanthropic impact experts Rathish Balakrishnan, Shilpa Kumar, and Palagati Lekhya Reddy share a self-reflection exercise that maps the evolution of funder initiatives in three key areas: 1 | The System: What is the system that we're trying to change? 2 | Contributions: Did our efforts actually help bring about these changes in the system? What role did we play in making that happen? 3 | Pathways: Did we choose the right ways to push the system forward at the right times? Funders: Join us on Tues, Dec 3, for the second webinar in the How We Built This funder webinar series: “Post Election Assessment: Managing Risk in a Climate of Rising Authoritarianism”! We’ll discuss the operational threats and challenges facing multi-entity organizations as we collectively prepare for a second Trump Administration, as well as how philanthropy can better fortify the field by evolving its understanding of risk. In an era of rising authoritarianism, well-funded attacks on social justice organizations are an on-going threat to the progressive ecosystem. Increasingly, movement organizations are facing numerous obstacles including: lawsuits; threats to organizations’ tax statuses; legislation intent on limiting the activities of movement organizations; and digital, political, and personal security threats. The How We Built This funder webinar series was created through a partnership between New Left Accelerator (NLA), The Capacity Shop (TCS), the Funders' Committee For Civic Participation (FCCP), and the Funders’ Committee Action Fund (FCAF) to spotlight innovative infrastructure and multi-entity power-building work happening in the field during a critical time, while also providing opportunities for learning, collaboration, and co-conspiration. The panel will be moderated and led by Deborah Barron, Executive Director at New Left Accelerator and The Capacity Shop. Panelists include leaders in the progressive space in protecting democracy, managing risk and protecting our movements: - Suneela Jain, Chief Legal and Compliance Officer, Tides - Yordanos Eyoel, Founder and CEO, Keseb - Shanna Singh Hughey, Policy Strategist, Protect Democracy This is a crucial time to join the conversation. Hope to see you there! REGISTER: https://lnkd.in/gmmwDhrj

The fight to protect democracy has never been more important. And as we prepare for the road ahead, it will be crucial for all of us to take steps to ensure that our organizations and communities are prepared to be safe while taking on bold fights. That's why our team at NLA will continue to curate our Post-Election Resources Toolkit, with updated resources and tools designed to help social justice organizations navigate the complex safety and compliance risks of the post-election environment: Take time to explore resources on topics ranging from de-escalation to digital security and learn more about how to prepare for political prosecutions and post-election compliance. NATIONAL TOOLKIT: https://lnkd.in/gcis4pQX ARIZONA TOOLKIT: https://lnkd.in/gmd45sHK We hope that the toolkit provides a starting point for that journey, and that NLA’s resources and training help you and your team prepare to continue to fight the good fight!

I wanted to share the Post-Election Resources kit that the NLA team will continue to update here. As we prepare for the future, we will all be well served if we take the time to reflect on how we can strengthen and fortify our organizations. We will continue updating the Resources Kit as well as sharing more updates as they become available! Stay tuned...

This #NativeAmericanHeritageMonth, we celebrate the growing number of Indigenous youths who are driving civic engagement and social advocacy year-round in their communities. “It’s not just presidential elections that define the lay of the land for my community, the state, and the country. There’s local elections. There’s people that we put in power that I actually could go and meet...this is where real change can happen today.” – Maya Sanchez, California Native Vote Project youth organizer Check out this spotlight roundup of Maya and other CNVP youth advocates: https://lnkd.in/gWxeAzee
