I recently had the incredible opportunity to volunteer at AUVSI’s Xponential and it was an experience like no other! Throughout the week, I was able to immerse myself in the latest innovations and advancements in unmanned systems and robotics. It was great meeting some amazing individuals and companies within the industry, including Jamar Williams, whom I’ve been assisting in a semester-long project for our senior experience with Promo Drone . During my time at the convention, I had the privilege of attending two fascinating sessions on cybersecurity in the realm of drone technology. The talks on "Exploiting Drone Security Misconfigurations'' and "Securing Urban Air Mobility Data Exchanges Utilizing Blockchain Technologies" were particularly insightful. It’s truly eye opening to see how cutting-edge technologies like blockchain are being leveraged to address security issues within urban air mobility. The GAO reviewed 7 federal agencies' use of facial recognition tech, including DHS and DOJ, for criminal investigations. Initially, they lacked training requirements and policies safeguarding civil rights. The agencies had varying levels of policy implementation and training adoption. DHS and DOJ have taken steps to address GAO's concerns but faced delays. In its latest report (GAO-24-107372), GAO recommended improvements in training, privacy safeguards, and civil rights protection, which DHS and DOJ agreed to. 📄Read the full report here: https://lnkd.in/gVsd5rSm
