This past weekend, our team had the incredible opportunity to step off the lab and onto the basketball court at the 3v3 Basketball Tournament 創創燒 hosted by Taiwan Venture Capital Association ( TVCA ). While we may specialize in drug development, we’re proud to say we held our own in the game too! The event was more than just a chance to showcase some (slightly rusty) dribbling skills—it was a wonderful way to connect with the venture capital and start up community, support a great cause, and foster some serious team spirit. Here's a few key insights we shared about the current pet health market: 1. Pet market exceeds livestock animal market - $55+ Billion in Global Veterinary drugs market, $28 Billion in Pet health. 2. Pet economy's robust growth fueled by -Increasing human-animal bond during covid-19 -Aging population -Lack of insurance coverage (2-3% overall coverage) -More Veterinary clinic visit and proactive healthcare for pets due to shift in pet owner demographics from boomers to gen-z/millennials -Willingness to pay for single treatment reaches $4000 USD (Forbes Advisor) Market Problem: 1. Pet owner's WTP is at an all time high, but there's a lack of proper treatment option since Animal Drug develop are 20+ years behind human drug. -Over 80-90% of the drugs prescribe at vet clinics today are human generic drugs -Over 130+ mAb drugs approved for human since 1986, but only 3 approved mAb pet drugs launched since 2016. Looking Ahead: 2.
