A message from new Public Affairs Council President Nneka Chiazor: Happy New Year! I hope your 2025 is off to a great start. What an incredible first Monday of 2025 – as I write this from our Public Affairs Institute, where I'm joining executives and experts in government affairs and policy and thinking about Justin Trudeau's announcement to step down as Prime Minister. Four years ago today, the events at the United States Capitol underscored the indispensable value of public affairs expertise – from strategic communication and crisis management to stakeholder engagement and reputation stewardship. Democracy prevailed then, and we expect it will continue to prevail. Today, more than ever, our profession plays a vital role in fostering understanding, building trust, and strengthening the bonds between business, government and society. Our world is becoming increasingly more dynamic, and the work that you do at the intersection of business and politics is vital to shaping adaptable organizations, stronger business environments and informed communities. It's a new day in so many ways – a new Congress, a new administration and new shifts in global politics. It’s also a new day for the Public Affairs Council, and I’m thrilled that my team and I are embarking on a new journey focused on new ideas and innovations that demonstrate the value of the work you do as a public affairs professional. Thank you for your support of the profession. Let’s thrive in 2025!
