PSE wants to congratulate Auburn School District #408 for saving more than $600k in energy costs over the past eight years. The district has saved more than 5 million kWh of electricity and 129,097 therms of natural gas since 2017. This earned the district a $50,000 incentive check from PSE at a board meeting last month!

We recently completed a microgrid project at our Crystal Mountain generating plant that will improve reliability for the Crystal Mountain Resort and the nearby town of Greenwater. At 4,000 feet, the plant is one of our highest facilities and it’s fed by a 40-mile, radial transmission line that runs through mountainous and heavily forested areas. Despite a number of engineering and geographic challenges, the project team successfully developed a microgrid system capable of powering the ski resort and nearly 800 customers in Greenwater. At PSE, we work year-round to install, upgrade, and maintain our vital infrastructure. Learn more about our current system improvement projects and programs in your area: http://ms.spr.ly/6047UmVPZ

Our Goldendale Generating Station recently hosted the third-grade students of Goldendale Primary School. Nearly 80 students, teachers, and chaperones toured the facility to learn about power production, electrical safety, batteries and circuits, and magnets and generators. The students (and adults!) learned more about the combined cycle plant’s capabilities and got to visit the control center. The students toured the facility following their electricity science class — we hope this will become an annual tradition!

Construction crews are working super hard at our Operational Training Center (OTC)! The facility, set to open next fall, will be where PSE field workers and emergency first responders can get hands-on training as we continue developing the skills necessary for a safe and reliable clean energy transition. Next up, crews will start working on our Outdoor Training Village, which will be used to practice real-life situations they will see in the field. Read more here: http://ms.spr.ly/6186oVDLQ
