“If we see something that can be made better – whether it’s our product, chocolate, processes, or factory – we do it.” Seattle Chocolate Company is known for its delicious chocolate creations, but they are also a powerhouse of environmental initiatives. With PSE, they source 100% of their natural gas from a renewable resource, and match their electricity usage with wind and solar energy. Our award-winning Virtual Power Plant (VPP) platform will play a critical role in helping us meet some of the most ambitious clean energy goals in the country, in partnership with our customers: http://ms.spr.ly/6044Y7bSs Since our launch last fall, we’ve engaged over 300,000 customers in programs to reduce or shift energy usage during periods of peak demand on the system. In addition to smart thermostats, we’ve introduced managed EV charging and will soon expand to other customer-owned devices like water heaters and batteries.

A big milestone in our Beaver Creek Wind Project as the first wind turbine has been fully assembled. Over the next few months, 87 more turbines will be erected in Stillwater County, Montana. The wind farm is the latest addition in a growing list of renewable energy resources PSE is acquiring as it works toward meeting Washington State’s Clean Energy Transformation Act (CETA) goals for 2025 and beyond. We're grateful for the warm reception from the local community and are excited to continue our longstanding Montana energy partnerships. Read more about the project here: https://lnkd.in/gH58UWUU

Here at PSE, we’re not just excited supporters of electric vehicles; we’re excited owners of electric vehicles! Let PSE Senior Marketing Manager Michael explain why he loves his Rad Power electric bicycle: “An e-bike expands the distance and range of activities I can bike to. I can get to a neighborhood brewery or grocery store in almost the same time as it would take to drive with very little effort. The biggest difference from a regular bike is not having to struggle up hills. Having an e-bike means I won’t be tired or need a shower and change of clothes when I get to where I’m going.” Learn more about EVs with PSE Up & Go Electric: http://ms.spr.ly/6043YvLLl

Thanks to our Green Power and Solar Choice participants, the Family Support Center of South Sound installed a 50.20-kilowatt solar array on its new 62-unit permanent housing and supportive services facility. This will reduce their operating costs allowing them to focus on services for parents, children and survivors of violence. Your business can support projects like this by enrolling in renewable energy: http://ms.spr.ly/6042YQ2lo

Our Lower Snake River Wind Facility just reached a big milestone – generating more than 10 million megawatt hours of energy since it went online in 2012. Every year, the facility generates on average enough electricity to serve about 70,000 homes. Several factors played a role in the wind facility achieving this stellar accomplishment; including having maintenance done when the wind isn’t blowing strong and replacing major components before a failure occurs to ensure the turbines are working in proper condition. This clean energy avoids about 300,000 metric tons of CO2 emissions per year. Learn more: http://ms.spr.ly/6046Yk5wk

Our newest PSE Up & Go Electric public charging stations are now open! Electric vehicle drivers passing through Anacortes, Sumner and Bremerton can stretch their legs, grab a bite to eat, and support local businesses while enjoying fast, reliable charging from PSE. These new charging stations – as well as stations in Lacey, Bellingham, Kent and Olympia – will help us reach our climate goals while expanding the benefits of the electric transportation future. Meanwhile, businesses and communities that want to attract new patronage and advance their sustainability goals can install their own public charging station at little to no cost with our new Up & Go Electric for Public incentives covering up to 100% of the costs to install, maintain and operate a public charging station.
