We’re at it again! #PurpleLab’s health analytics data reveals a nearly 10% increase in #GLP1 prescriptions across the U.S. from 2023 to 2024. This surge highlights the growing demand for these medications, praised as game-changers in managing #obesity and #diabetes. Here’s a snapshot of what Tina Reed at Axios reported earlier in the week: 📈 Top Growth States: Rhode Island, Massachusetts, and New Jersey 📉 Declining States: Arkansas, Louisiana, West Virginia, Idaho, South Dakota, and Vermont 🩺 29% of prescriptions are aimed at adults aged 55–65; 26% are Seniors 65+ 🏥 Most prescriptions went to commercially insured patients, with #Medicaid patients accounting for just 9% of the total prescriptions in 2024. 🚨 Pharma product launches have a 40% miss rate. High-stakes investments in new drug launches demand more than traditional targeting methods. At PurpleLab’s recent Decoding Physician Prescribing Behaviour webinar, Theodore Sweetser shared: "If you’re thinking about plowing a billion dollars into go-to-market, 4 out of 10 times, it’s just not going to work out." Why? Because targeting just high-decile prescribers (a.k.a. the “usual suspects”) isn’t enough anymore. The data reveals that nurse practitioners (NPs) and physician assistants (PAs) often have the strongest connections with patients. The takeaway?
