🟢 One of the major #outcomes of #COP29 in #Baku, the “#QualityInfrastructureRoadmap for #GreenHydrogen” report, launched by the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA)! #QIDigital, #qidf25, #H2
I am beyond thrilled and delighted to share that today at #COP29 in Baku, International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) “Quality Infrastructure Roadmap for Green Hydrogen” report was launched. 🛣️ This roadmap is an output of IRENA project “Quality Infrastructure for Green Hydrogen: technical standards and quality control for the production and trade of renewable hydrogen” that was implemented together with Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt, PTB with financial support from Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) 🎯 The main objective of this project was to raise awareness on the importance of developing a robust #quality #infrastructure (QI) system for #green #hydrogen to ensure this energy carrier is produced in a safe manner as well as traded sustainably. QI encompasses #standards, #accreditation, #metrology, conformity assessments (#testing, #certification, #inspection) – and provides assurances that a technology will meet its intended expectations. 🔍 This roadmap provides guidance to policymakers and industry players on key QI requirements for the green hydrogen sector, often overlooked in the industry. The roadmap approach was piloted in a Tunisia case study and database annex on QI standards for hydrogen - both are available as appendices to the study. To learn about this roadmap - check out the report here 👉 https://lnkd.in/dxTiSX9r 🙏 This project was assigned to me by Francisco Boshell to manage when I joined IRENA in June 2022, and I have viewed this project as my signature workstream. I am beyond grateful for the trust he reposed in me as well as guidance he provided throughout its implementation. 👏 Under the guidance of Roland Roesch and Francisco, I had the great pleasure & honor of co-authoring this roadmap together with Arno van den Bos and Niels Ferdinand – without whom this publication would have never come to fruition. Their expertise and sector specific knowledge were truly invaluable, and I am thankful for their inputs and teamwork! 🤝 Throughout the duration of this this IRENA project, the development of the outputs benefitted from contributions and support from: Gayathri Prakash , James Walker, Francesco Pasemini, Jeffrey Tchouambe; Carl Felix Wolff; Ulf Seiler; Iris Nadolny; Jana Bante; Andrea Ulbrich; Maria Llaurado Ricart; Franziska Schindler; Amel Samti; Ourida Chalwati; Amal TURKI; and Balkis Jrad. 🙌 Valuable and inputs were provided by Paul Komor, Zafar Samadov, Abdullah Fahad, Emanuele Bianco ; Andrei V. Tchouvelev, Martin Thedens, Chris Agius, Maria Sandqvist, Mortiz Ackermann, Berts Anders, Detlev Markus, Michael Beyer, Christian Gönther, Mario Antonio Sandoval, Lydia Vogt, Florian Konert, Milos Djukic, Oscar Pearce, Victoria Monsma, Annarita Baldan, Dr. Lutz Schaefer, Maria Varbeva-Daley, Abbey Dorian, Ben Rowton, and Gareth Hinds. ✍ I also express my gratitude to Ling Ling Federhen, Francis Field, and Stephanie Clarke for their impeccable publication support.
