One year ago today, we made history. On October 24, 2023, Quantum Corridor launched one of the fastest, most secure fiber-optic networks in the Western Hemisphere with our first transmissions from the Chicago ORD 10 Data Center at 350 E. Cermak Rd. to a data center in Hammond, Indiana. Made possible by our partners Ciena, C1 and Toshiba, our 6500 Reconfigurable Line System (RLS) and WaveLogic 5 Extreme coherent optics bring unparalleled bandwidth to this vanguard network, paving the way for breakthroughs in defense, financial modeling, biotech, cybersecurity, machine learning, research and more. Indiana Gov. Eric Holcomb, Hammond (IN) Mayor Thomas McDermott Jr. and Heather Ennis of the Northwest Indiana Forum all played key roles in making this network a reality, and each deserve our sincere gratitude. Last Friday, the National Quantum Initiative Advisory Committee (NQIAC) published its second independent assessment of the National Quantum Initiative (NQI) program, focusing on quantum networking and the role that testbeds play in research and development of quantum networking technologies. Quantum Networking applications like Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) and Distributed Quantum Computing are keys applications called out in the report. Quantum Corridor offers real-world testbed environments with our Quantum Commercialization Centers (QC3), in addition to quantum-safe communications including QKD.
