Brands don't want to be annoying when following up with buyers, but oftentimes, persistence is exactly what is needed, and the buyers actually appreciate it. At ECRM's recent Beauty and Cough/Cold Sessions, this was mentioned in two different interviews conducted by Joseph Tarnowski -- one with Nutrition Smart Category Manager Joe Geier, and one from a RangeMe Premium subscriber, David Danzig, CEO of Cosset Inc. Geier mentioned that his emails quickly get buried, especially when he is on the road, and he actually appreciates when a brand moves an email to the top of his inbox. After all, if he says that he is interested, he IS interested, and when a supplier emails him again, it prevents him from missing out on an opportunity to put a good product on the shelf. In the case of Cosset's Danzig, as you can hear in the video below, he had a situation where the buyer told him to keep "hammering him" if he didn't respond because he lost his assistant and wanted to do business with him. Of course, you don't want to be rude in your follow ups or blast out an email every day but be persistent enough until you are sure your message gets through. Or like Danzig says, "If they haven't said NO, keep going." Nobody wants to enter "naked chicks" into a search at work. But that's what people were doing to look for the honey-sweetened sodas and drizzlers created by Heather Mincer, when her company was originally called Naked Chicks Pastures. When you know the brand's origin, the name made sense. It sold pasture-raised chickens with no chemicals or antibiotics, it wasn't online, and most of its sales came from word-of-mouth. But when it started selling honey-sweetened soda and drizzlers, they went online (and on RangeMe), and that's when things got a little ... weird. Let's just say website searches pulled up A LOT of unwanted results. And buyers on RangeMe might have been a tad bit confused between the brand name and its products. So Heather refreshed the brand, giving it the much more relevant name of Yes Honey, and website traffic grew tremendously. What's more, buyer engagement grew on RangeMe -- so much so that Yes Honey joined the ranks of RangeMe's Top Brands in Food & Beverage last month in Mass Market Retailers magazine. Selim Adiguzel is proof that you get out of RangeMe exactly what you put into it. As a sales executive at audio equipment and solutions provider i-xtech, he landed his first retail deal with a free RangeMe subscription, then a second soon after upgrading to Premium and submitting products to Immediate Opportunities. What's his secret? Selim (who goes by "John") spends lots of time on the platform. When he began with a free subscription, he spent hours on the images and copy, making sure everything was just right, so that buyers searching for products like his would see his brand profile. And one did. The SVP of Flip reached out to him directly on the platform, and within a month i-xtech's products were selling well on the platform. John then upgraded to a RangeMe Premium subscription, and once again spent hours loading up more products and content, optimizing his profile and following the guidance of his Customer Success Manager Kevin Murano. As both Starter and Premium subscribers can participate in RangeMe's Immediate Opportunities, i-xtech submitted products to Mercatalyst's Overstocks campaign. Boom. Deal two. Already a third retailer has approved one of his submissions, and they are moving forward toward what will soon be deal No. 3.
