Established designers as well as young talents from more than 70 countries yearly submit their works. The international Red Dot Jury, consisting of unbiased and renowned design experts, afterwards carefully tries out, discusses and finally evaluates the entries. Winning a Red Dot is a very special honour for the laureates as the award is only given to works with a high design quality. The laureates profit from various measures, all of which communicate their success in an internationally visible way: They can use the well-known Red Dot label which generates a great deal of attention for any product, communication work or prototype thanks to its striking appearance. Updates

  • We look back on a colourful year 2024, marked by innovation, creativity and global cooperation. Designers from all over the world have once again shown how design can change people’s lives. 🚀 Highlights of this year were the Red Dot Galas in Essen, Singapore and Berlin, where we celebrated the commitment of creatives who, with their work, create design values while also offering solutions to pressing social hurdles. The publication of the 30th edition of the International Yearbook Brands & Communication Design made it clear that good design goes far beyond aesthetic design. In times of global crises, political tensions and ongoing uncertainty, design shapes our daily lives and contributes to solving international challenges: “In free societies, design always makes an important contribution to maintaining the quality of life,” says Professor Dr. Peter Zec, founder and CEO of Red Dot. Whether in communication design, product design or design concepts – our design community has once again proven that it not only reacts but also actively shapes the future. Dive into more insights in the Red Dot Annual Review 2024: https://lnkd.in/emQBcxhA What was your design highlight in 2024? Share your thoughts in the comments — we‘d love to hear from you! ✨

  • Exploring Modern Desire Through Dante’s Lens: Chuantao Zhu’s “La Divina Commedia“ 📖 Young Chinese designer Chuantao Zhu reinterprets Dante’s Divine Comedy in his latest project, La Divina Commedia, to explore the complex nature of desire within today’s consumer-driven world. Inspired by the increasing focus on instant gratification, Zhu’s work uses Dante’s narrative to reveal the tension between fleeting desires and enduring values. Over 2,000 pages with more than 300 monochromatic illustrations, Zhu’s design is a reflection on balance, morality, and the transformative power of desire. Zhu’s innovative approach includes separate Chinese and English editions, each uniquely bound to reflect the distinctive character of each language. The choice of water-repellent, transparent paper adds to the tactile experience, while a miniature, pocket-sized version of the work enables readers to engage with its message anytime, anywhere. This thoughtful work embodies a modern aesthetic with timeless themes, demonstrating Zhu’s meticulous design sensibility and his deep reflection on desire, spirituality, and societal values. 🏆 Read more about this year’s Junior Prize winner: https://lnkd.in/eQkdtP95 👉 Check out his winners profile: https://lnkd.in/eUrSePQ7 #RedDotAward #CommunicationDesign #PrintDesign #JuniorPrize
