Are you a Pizza Rat or a Bodega Cat? That's what we asked the fans who downloaded our mobile app onsite at New York Comic Con 2024, and then we put them in the Bodega Battle where they could take actions within our app to win points for their team. Rebranding this piece of tech within our app from Fan Hub in 2023 to NYCC Play in 2024, and aligning it with our overall show theme for the year versus generic logo branding, helped us increase our fan engagement across the board. Our fans collectively spent the equivalent of 69.5 days engaging with this portion of our app and raking in 365 million points for their teams. We then saw a 450% increase in impressions and 247% increase in unique engagements year over year. I’m thrilled to share the outstanding success of the Komo “Play NYCC” hub at New York Comic Con 2024, in partnership with ReedPop and Leap Event Technology. Our focus was on amplifying attendees’ passion points through enhanced gamification features, exclusive in-app content, competitions, and rewards—all seamlessly integrated into the official NYCC 2024 app. We introduced new scoring and leaderboard features on the Komo platform, now available to all our customers. Each fan was assigned to a team (Pizza Rat or Bodega Cat) upon registration, and every game they played or content they engaged with contributed to their team’s score. The live team leaderboard, displayed throughout the venue, fostered a sense of tribalism and competition, encouraging fans to rally behind their teams. This strategy ignited excitement and drove high levels of engagement, with users repeatedly returning to the app to play, contribute, and get rewarded in real-time! As a result, ReedPop saw a surge in app engagement time, and with fans eagerly interacting with the brands sponsoring the activations, it ticks all the boxes. The team leaderboard feature was a massive success, with fans racking up an incredible 365 million team points. From merchandise reveal games to fast track passes and digital coupons, fans were immersed in a continuous flow of interaction and rewards. I’m immensely proud of our team and their achievements. We’ve built—and continue to enhance—a platform that delivers unmatched engagement and commercial results.
