The Reforest Canada Collective, in partnership with Forests Canada, is thrilled to announce ✨ our first Conversation Series: Forest Recovery Strategies After Wildfire in Canada✨ As wildfires become increasingly severe across Canada, discussions have rightly focused on prevention and risk reduction. But what about replanting after wildfire? ❔ How do we plant-back, better? ❔ How do we balance with natural regeneration? ❔ How do we consider the needs of wildlife in post-fire planting? These are complex questions, and while answers aren’t always clear, there are experts and practitioners tackling these challenges head-on. 🔥 Join us for this 3-part series to gain insights from experts, learn about innovative approaches, and contribute to the conversation on shaping the future of our forests: 🍃 Part 1 | January 29, 12:00-1:00 PM ET Accelerating forest recovery after wildfire amid shifts in tree species regeneration patterns 👉 Register now for Part 1: https://lnkd.in/gvrZg-jr ⛑️ Part 2 | February 5, 12:00-1:00 PM ET Tree planting in response to high-severity wildfires 👉 Register now for Part 2: https://lnkd.in/gv-EnSGq 🦌 Part 3 | February 12, 12:00-1:00 PM ET Post-wildfire forest recovery for wildlife habitat 👉 Register now for Part 3: https://lnkd.in/gAXQsq7Q #ReforestCanada #2billiontrees #reforest #reforestation #trees #treeplanting #plantatree #planttrees #biodiversity #protectbiodiversity #sustainableforests #rewilding #wildfires #climatechange #environment #sustainability #nature #environment #sustainability #nature

Last week, we launched the Reforest Canada Collective's website 🌱 www.reforestcollective.ca 🤔 But why was it created? Eight organizations that are recipients of the 2 Billion Trees program and have projects across Canada generously contributed their time and expertise as members of the early working group for the Reforest Canada Collective. These organizations contributed to an article that outlines the need for a national platform to bring Canada’s tree planting and forest restoration community together to share knowledge and collaborate. 👉 Read it here: https://lnkd.in/gCVqvQPt A big thanks to all contributors: ALUS Agroforestry & Woodlot Extension Society Community Forests International Cariboo Carbon Solutions Forests Canada New Brunswick Federation of Woodlot Owners Shakti by TELUS Tree Canada / Arbres Canada The RCC team looks forward to connecting and collaborating with many more 2BT program recipients and tree planting organizations in the new year! Who is the RCC for? 🍁 2BT recipients The RCC is funded by the Government of Canada’s 2 Billion Trees (2BT) program to support current and future recipients in implementing their projects – if you are a 2BT program recipient or applicant in the Mass Planting or Indigenous Stream, we’d love to hear from you! 🐿️ The whole supply chain There’s a lot more to planting trees than planting trees! That’s why the RCC creates a space for organizations from across the tree planting supply chain to connect and collaborate – from seed collectors to nursery operators, to planting contractors – if you play a role in restoring Canada’s forests, the RCC is for you, too! 🌎 The wider ecosystem Whether you’re a community leader, a government agency, an academic, or a corporate partner, we invite you to follow the RCC to learn from those doing the on-the-groundwork and discover how you can support large-scale tree planting and forest restoration projects with long-term benefits across Canada. How to stay up-to-date on the RCC As a new initiative, things are moving quickly at the RCC! How do you create a thriving forest? A thriving forest is full of life and interaction, and everything in it plays an important role. The same could be said about the 'ecosystem' of people it takes to make tree planting and forest restoration projects successful. We’ve been working on an exciting new initiative for Canada’s tree planting and forest restoration community that we will be launching very soon!🚀 Stay tuned for the official launch of the Reforest Canada Collective by: 🌳 Signing up for our mailing list: https://lnkd.in/gfvYUupK And following us on social media: 🌿 LinkedIn | https://lnkd.in/grNSKSXm 🍃 Instagram | https://lnkd.in/gHW5Fd8V 🍂 Bluesky | https://lnkd.in/gjXaTZ9h #ReforestCanada #2billiontrees #reforest #reforestation #trees #treeplanting #plantatree #planttrees #biodiversity #protectbiodiversity #sustainableforests #wildfires #climatechange #environment #sustainability #nature
