About us
Region Nine Development Commission takes great pride in working with and on behalf of counties, cities, townships and schools throughout south central Minnesota. Since 1972, being a partner for progress has led to the development of programs and identification of solutions in the areas of aging, economic development, business development, healthy communities, transportation, community development, and leveraging regional resources. Mission Statement The mission of the Region Nine Development Commission is to promote the development of the region through intergovernmental cooperation, community and human development, long-range planning and technical assistance. Value Statements Vision / Goals We will maintain a future-oriented perspective that helps to facilitate decisions which result in healthier and more prosperous communities that are better equipped to move forward into the future. Accountability We are accountable to the public, our funding agencies and to each other for the quality of our work, promoting development of the region and being fiscally responsible. Professionalism We promote, encourage and provide opportunities for development, leadership and mentoring at all levels of participation within the organization. Celebrating Innovation in Clean Energy! Last week, RNDC Environment & Sustainability Planner Sabri Fair and project partners from Convivencia Hispana attended the Department of Energy's Community Energy Innovation Prize Summit to showcase their impactful work. Through this initiative, the team: • Hired eight Community Energy Navigators • Registered 175 households for free energy audits • Completed 70 energy audits to date Thanks to their efforts, the team received an additional $100,000 to continue advancing energy efficiency and clean energy solutions in St. James.

RNDC is hiring for three impactful positions that contribute to the well-being and development of South Central Minnesota: • Finance Director Lead RNDC’s accounting systems, fiscal sponsorship activities, and financial planning efforts to ensure the success of regional programs and initiatives. • Road Safety Transportation Planner Drive meaningful change by improving transportation systems, enhancing road safety, and planning for the future of mobility in our region. • Regional Food Recovery Coordinator Support sustainability and fight food insecurity by coordinating efforts to rescue and redistribute food across the nine-county service area. Applications open December 18th for Grants to Support Green Fertilizer Production. The Green Fertilizer Grant will support agricultural and rural electric cooperatives registered as 308A or 308B with the State of Minnesota to invest in green fertilizer manufacturing. Funding opportunity! Grants are available for small communities to plan for the impacts of climate change. The MPCA will distribute $500,000 in grants for climate planning projects to small communities with populations of less than 10,000 people. This funding provides an opportunity for these communities to assess vulnerabilities and begin planning for the effects of Minnesota’s changing climate in three areas: • increased resilience to stormwater and reduce localized flood risk • improved the resilience of wastewater systems • reduced human health effects and adapt community services, ordinances, and public spaces to the changing climate Applications are due no later than Friday, Jan. 17, 2025, at 4 p.m. Learn more and apply at https://lnkd.in/gZmNCf8P
