For our latest Team Behind the Sound feature, we're excited to spotlight Chad DeFranco, our Engineering Manager at #Renkus-Heinz. Chad’s journey into the audio world began on the other side of the stage, setting up equipment for gigs, including those with his father, renowned Bebop clarinetist Buddy DeFranco. His passion for sound and pursuit of technical expertise led him back to school to study Electrical Engineering. Chad joined Renkus-Heinz about six years ago, drawn to the family-oriented environment and the chance to work on groundbreaking audio projects. “I love the variety of what I do here – from acoustics to DSP, and amplifier electronics. It’s really satisfying when you see a product you had a hand in designing get installed and used,” says Chad. Chad’s deep appreciation for tonal quality and balance in sound traces back to his father’s high standards. Now, his role ensures that Mix Engineers have the best tools to achieve that perfect tone and balance on stage. 🎛️ Outside of work, Chad used to DJ quite a lot.
