Education and Training will play a crucial role in the development of a CRM-resilient industry in EU!
📣 Important news! Today, EIT RawMaterials released a pivotal paper urging the European Union to commit €4 billion under the upcoming Framework Programme 10 (FP10) to secure critical and strategic raw materials (CRMs and SRMs) for Europe’s industrial future. This investment would be a game-changer for European competitiveness. Why is urgent action needed? ✳️ As global demand for raw materials grows, the EU must expand domestic production and processing, reduce reliance on single-country suppliers, expand circularity, drive innovation across the raw materials value chain - and create a highly skilled workforce to support this growth. ✳️ This aligns with EU’s Critical Raw Materials Act (CRMA), which mandates 10% of annual consumption of raw materials for domestic extraction, 40% for processing, and 25% for recycling by 2030. ✳️ The potential is enormous: the European Commission estimates a stable supply of CRMs can underpin over €2 trillion in economic value and support 32 million jobs by 2030. 📢 EIT RawMaterials is advocating for a €4 billion investment under FP10 to: 💡 Develop disruptive technologies for raw materials sourcing and processing. ♻️ Accelerate and facilitate a functioning circular economy. 🤝 Foster public-private partnerships to scale innovation and enhance competitiveness. 🎓 Develop a highly skilled workforce that will support Europe’s leadership in the sector. Achieving this vision requires partnership and commitment across public and private sectors, as well as research, education, and industry. Together, we will forge a sustainable, resilient future for Europe. 💬 Read our Position on Framework Programme 10 here: https://lnkd.in/eqe7h__J Join the conversation and share your thoughts.
