The last day has been a crucial day for our project: we held the Kick-Off meeting! In Chantilly, France, the coordinator European Powder Metallurgy Association hosted the first in person meeting of the consortium, in a hybrid event that lasted all day and also featured a speech from our Project Officer. All work package leaders presented the activities, and some decisions about the already started tasks were taken. Not less important, we all met personally and could strenghten the cohesion in the consortium, that will be very important for the next four years (and later!). We also had a great dinner together. We all look forward to the work ahead, and to the next meeting, in Prague next March.

📣Here we are, our Horizon Europe project officially started on 1st September!📣 REPTiS is an acronym that stands for "Responsible Extraction and Processing of Titanium and other primary raw materials for Sourcing EU industrial value chains and strategic sectors". In the 4 years of the project, the consortium will work to improve an existing sustainable and energy efficient solution for extraction and processing of ilmenite mineral in Ukraine into Titanium oxide (and possibly other Critical and Strategic Raw Materials) to produce via a purely chemical route Titanium alloy powders, irregular and spheroidised, by-passing the usual processes. The whole process will follow a zero waste approach. These powders will be validated in common powder metallurgy processes like Metal Injection Moulding, Metal Additive Manufacturing and so on, producing prototypes for the medical and aerospace sectors. At the end of the effort, a sound, sustainable and responsible supply chain based in Europe will be able to supply Titanium-based powders to the EU industry. In a couple of weeks (18th September) our coordinator European Powder Metallurgy Association will host the Kick-off meeting in Chantilly (France) and the plans for the next months of activity will be discussed and launched.
