Horizon2020 project 🇪🇺 🔍 Working on land use adaptation and mitigation solutions 🌱 to foster climate action! 🌍
About us
RethinkAction is funded under the Horizon 2020 Programme. During the four-year project period that started in October 2021, the RethinkAction team will develop a cross-sectoral decision-making platform tailored to the needs of different end-users. The platform will deliver clear and valuable information on climate change and increase awareness and attractiveness referring to land use based mitigation and adaptation solutions. By creating these solutions through participatory processes, the project will furthermore promote an active participation in climate action with decision-makers, stakeholders as well as citizens worldwide. This project has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No 101037104. 🔎 Research Project 🇪🇺 Horizon2020 🌏 Land Use Adaptation and Mitigation Solutions 👥 13 Partner Organisations I 9 Countries

It was terribly quiet at our office last week! 😱 Well, sometimes it so happens that our projects demand us to be in different places. But rarely this means that we are all out at the same time! But hey, we made the best of it 😎 Team RethinkAction traveled to beautiful Budapest and Team LOCALISED to (no less pretty) Vienna to meet with project partners. While the official purpose of the meetings was quite clear, there's something even more meaningful we'd like to highlight — what happens beyond the meeting rooms. In between presentations and strategic discussions, the real magic unfolds: personal connections, shared stories, spontaneous moments, and the kind of rapport that strengthens not just our projects but our relationships. These moments remind us that collaboration is about more than just ticking boxes and achieving KPIs; it’s about building trust, understanding different perspectives, and creating lasting bonds within our team and with our partners. It’s what transforms a good project into something truly memorable! With Ephraim Broschkowski Tobias Gralke Catharina Dörr Bernd Hezel Caroline Bertram (and others)

📣 We’ve just wrapped up a highly productive two-day project meeting in Budapest! During the sessions, we shared updates across all Work Packages, reviewed the most recent interactions with stakeholders in the Case Study regions, and discussed the progress of the Integrated Assessment Platform, along with the climate models that support it. This meeting was also a valuable opportunity to look ahead, exploring strategies for expanding the project's impact and applying its methodology in other regions. As #RethinkAction enters its final phase, it's exciting to see all the pieces coming together and shaping the future direction of the project 🙌 A huge thank you and köszönom 🙏 to our Hungarian partners at Geonardo Environmental Technologies for being such great hosts! Finally, we also left our mark at the iconic Szimpla Kert with our unofficial motto, "RETHINK, ACT, AND DELIVER," now on display! With Peter Gyuris, Attila Némethy, Dalma Jázmin Versitz, Ömer Ceylan, Amandine Pastor, Patricia Pérez Ramírez, Sofie Hellsten, Ricardo Encarnação Coelho, Tiago Capela Lourenço, Tommaso Brazzini, Chiara Managò, Francesca Api, Riccardo Razzano, Dr. David Corbett, Iván Ramos Diez, Víctor Iván Serna González, Alessandra Nuzzo, Robert Oakes, Catharina Dörr, Ephraim Broschkowski, Caroline Bertram

We’re excited to announce that RethinkAction project was presented at the #EuroGEO Workshop in Krakow! From 8-10 October, experts from across Europe gathered to discuss – among others - synergies in #Climate, #Energy, and #Urbanization, and our team was thrilled to be part of this significant event. Iphigenia Keramitsoglou from the National Observatory of Athens showcased our latest progress at the poster session, highlighting the impact of the RethinkAction project as a cross-sectoral planning decision-making platform to foster #ClimateAction. It enables users to evaluate historical and future climate trends through Essential Climate Variables (ECVs) and derived indicators, assess vulnerabilities and risks at case study levels, and review adaptation and mitigation strategies. By utilizing local system dynamic models and the WILIAM integrated assessment model, users can generate different policy action scenarios, explore the upscaling effects of local solutions, and create personalized policy recommendations.

How was your day today? Mine felt like an entire week packed into one day! It started with my luggage not making it to ✈️ 📍 Krakow with me. Not the ideal start, but the day quickly took off from there. First up, I co-chaired the #Urban Action Group at the EuroGEO - European contribution to GEO #EGW2024 workshop , followed by a coffee break where I presented RethinkAction, an exciting cross-sectoral planning decision-making platform to foster #climate action. Back to the Urban Action Group for more discussions—where we nailed down the 'how, what, why, and who' of our Action Group. Managed to squeeze in a quick selfie with lots of smiles! There’s also been some buzz around #OneEuroGEO which has kept things lively. 😁 In the afternoon, I co-chaired a session on synergies between Climate, #Energy, and #Urbanisation, featuring rapid presentations and a dynamic panel discussion. Before diving into the outcomes of this incredibly full first day, it's time to explore the beautiful city of Krakow and enjoy a few drinks with friends and colleagues. ...So, how was your day? w.
