A compelling essay from Special Competitive Studies Project - SCSP and its President and CEO, Ylli Bajraktari, a longtime friend of Rhombus. Some important context about Ylli: he’s spent his entire career advancing America’s competitive advantage, from years in the Pentagon supporting the Undersecretary for Policy, the Chairman of the JCS, and the former Dep SecDef, to the White House advising President Trump’s former National Security Advisor LTG HR McMaster and serving as Executive Director of the National Security Commission on Artificial Intelligence. In other words: Ylli speaks with experience and authority! Here, Ylli describes how AI can enhance the intelligence community’s ability to provide strategic warning— critical when we must think of and plan for the threats of tomorrow TODAY. We appreciate the Rhombus case study Ylli cites, and we’re proud that our work made such an impact in Afghanistan and Ukraine. Rhombus was honored to have a pillar of the diplomatic community, Ambassador Naor Gilon, join our team at the International Institute for Strategic Studies' Prague Defence Summit. With complex conflicts and cunning competitors spanning the globe, strong relationships with like-minded partners have never been more vital— and a new era of technology sharing and fully transformed defense procurement building greater defense capacity in Europe and beyond offer myriad ways to make those partnerships stronger. #IISSPDS24
Former ambassador of Israel to India (Sri Lanka and Bhutan), Italy (San Marino) and to The Netherlands. Proud father and grandfather.
Had the pleasure of participating at the IISS Prague Defence Summit. I was there with Rhombus Power Inc. A very interesting US company which uses AI and open source intelligence (OSINT) to predict geo strategic developments. Our briefings to senior counterparts were met with interest and enthusiasm.

Today, we pause to honor all who have served in our military, and we celebrate their strength, resilience, and unmatched commitment to service. We’re deeply grateful to the many veterans on our Rhombus team who continue living out their love of country by contributing to the national security enterprise, out of uniform but with the same standards of excellence that they did in the service. To all the veterans out there, as well as those still actively serving, today— and every day— thank you.

“AI is reshaping our logistics, our cyber vulnerability detection, how we analyze and synthesize intelligence. Some change we see looming on the horizon, including AI-enabled applications that will transform the way our military trains and fights.” The White House has released the first-ever National Security Memo on Artificial Intelligence— the start of an overall strategy for the development and deployment of AI capabilities across national security missions. In his remarks timed to the release of the guidance, National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan underscored both that the pace of technological advancements is exponentially increasing, and that the stakes of staying ahead have never been greater. For everyone engaged in the national security enterprise, it is well-worth reading this document and thinking ahead to the ways in which the policy framework will evolve to try and keep pace with innovation. Whoever leads the next Administration, these issues are only becoming more critical as the national security community looks to harness and accelerate the adoption of new technology to achieve critical objectives. ——— Anshuman Roy, Dr. Sangram Ganguly, Sarah Cowan, Abhishek Sharma, Tirthajyoti Sarkar, Ellen Chapin, David Wade, Syed Faraz, Kelly Morris

What can we all do better to save more of the 40,000 lives lost in the United States every year to the scourge of gun violence? It’s an issue that's divided policymakers for decades, while the tragic results only grow. That's a question the Milken Institute decided to help tackle. Over a year ago, Rhombus was privileged to begin a quiet set of conversations with leaders from the Milken Institute. We discussed new potential pathways and stakeholders to start making progress on this epidemic that hits the United States harder than any other country on the planet. We were especially impressed by the fresh thinking - bringing new voices and welcomeness to unconventional solutions - that marked the work of Milken’s Dr. Emily Musil, Madeleine Cashin, Hilary McConnaughey Page, Kellen Silver, Heather Haines, and others who were trying to source the best potential areas for breakthroughs. Today, the Milken team released a comprehensive, multifaceted report - Activating Philanthropic and Business Capital: Strategies to Advance Gun Violence Prevention in the US – which focuses on creating a new collaborative ecosystem to make headway. We were especially interested in the creative way Milken discusses potential technological breakthroughs: “Harnessing technology and other unconventional tools can help address entrenched challenges. Leaning into these emerging developments opens up new possibilities for progress.” Their report is as powerful as it is thoughtful, and it’s well worth reading, digesting, and talking through as we all think of a crisis that is in desperate need of action. At AUSA this week, leaders across the Army shared their thoughts on how AI can maximize the force’s most precious resource— its people. That theme echoes something former STRATCOM Commander Adm Chas Richard and Rhombus Founder Dr. Anshuman Roy argue: As enormous amounts of data are collected, stored, and analyzed every day, AI can quickly and efficiently evaluate where human expertise should focus— giving back freedom of action and thousands of precious hours of productivity. In other words, AI doesn't replace human input, but rather enhances it. From predictive analytics to improving mission readiness, the benefits are tangible up and down the chain of command. Rear Adm. Grace Hopper, a trailblazer in computer science and a visionary in the U.S. Navy, paved the way for countless women to follow in technology and through service in uniform. Her work on early computers and the development of programming languages revolutionized computing, and earned her both the Defense Distinguished Service Medal and the Presidential Medal of Freedom. Today, Hopper continues to inspire new generations, something that is always evident at AnitaB.org's annual Grace Hopper Celebration. This year, members of our team will be joining this gathering of women technologists in Philadelphia on October 9-11. If you’re there, feel free to reach out to Divya, Aishwarya, Kelly, Sai, or Shubhashree to learn more about Rhombus – and know that in our hiring, we are looking for tomorrow’s cadre of Grace Hoppers to shape the future of defense through advanced technology. #GH2024 #WomenInTech #GraceHopperCelebration ——— Anshuman, Dr. Sangram, Sarah, Abhishek, Tirthajyoti, Ellen, Leo, Syed, Kelly

The United States has produced some remarkable uniformed leaders who are also management gurus, always looking for new ways to drive operational efficiency and innovation across the force. Wherever he served, Adm. Chas Richard always distinguished himself in that tradition – as Commander, Submarine Forces, Norfolk; Director of Undersea Warfare (OPNAV N97) at the Pentagon; Deputy Commander of Joint Functional Component Command for Global Strike at U.S. Strategic Command; Director of Resources on the staff of the Under Secretary of Defense (Policy) – and, ultimately, as Commander, U.S. Strategic Command. What a career in uniform. Now, out of uniform, Adm Richard is sharing his wisdom with the next generation. He put pen to paper about the opportunity and challenge of integrating AI into military decision-making alongside Rhombus CEO Dr. Anshuman Roy in the U.S. Naval Institute's “Proceedings” journal: https://lnkd.in/eQqq74ek — Dr. Sangram Ganguly, Sarah Cowan, Abhishek Sharma, Tirthajyoti Sarkar, Ellen Chapin, PhD, David Wade, Syed Faraz, Kelly Morris

“But most importantly, we asked for an authority that allowed us to seek exemption to any rule or regulation that would slow us down.” Whether the Manhattan Project of WWII or the Corona Project during the Cold War, innovators on a mission have always depended on leadership that empowered them to cut through red tape and do things differently, unburdened by bureaucracy. In a really provocative interview, Raj S. details the early days of the Defense Innovation Unit (DIU)— then called DIUx given its experimental nature— and the way Secretary Ash Carter’s vision and expertise in breaking through logjams equipped this nimble bunch to succeed. Tune in to the latest episode of The Defense Tech Underground Podcast to hear for yourself many lessons learned driving the defense innovation ecosystem forward. https://lnkd.in/ePZg3Zzm ——— Stanford Gordian Knot Center for National Security Innovation
