But through the power of connection, mentorship, and guidance, everything changed. We walked with her every step of the way—college applications, FAFSA, grants—you name it. Fast forward to 2019: Lexi graduated from UNCC with a degree in computer science, completed the Wells Fargo Associate Program, and is now thriving in a full-time role at Wells Fargo. But that’s not all. Lexi’s courage to dream big and break barriers has inspired her family. Last week, our students explored the essence of teamwork and what it takes to be a great teammate! Through the Helium Challenge, they learned that collaboration is key to achieving goals. With everyone’s fingers on the tape, they communicated, demonstrated leadership, and practiced essential skills while working together to lift the tape back up. This hands-on activity beautifully tied into our Right Moves for Youth pillars of SEL and Civic Leadership Duty.
