  • As we enter into two weeks of rest, refreshing, and maybe rejuvenation, we spent the month of December in our Breakfast Clubs having conversations about these three crucial things - Rest - an instance or period of relaxing or ceasing to engage in strenuous or stressful activity. Refresh - give new strength or energy to; reinvigorate. Rejuvenate - give new energy or vigor to; revitalize. Will you be able to do all three during the holiday season? Start with Rest - there are all kinds. In the TED article “The 7 Types of Rest That Every Person Needs,” Dr. Saundra Dalton-Smith Physical rest which can be lying around or going for a walk (yes, walking casually can be relaxing). Mental, sensory, and creative rest - creative rest? Like painting, drawing, and gaming. Emotional, social, and spiritual rest are also needed. Looking to Refresh? Get active, practice mindfulness, eat and sleep well, seek to listen and see the world around you (my favorite), gain energy from those around you, avoid social media, and give yourself a pat on the back. Rejuvenation! While we can rest daily, and refresh regularly, rejuvenating is a bit more complicated. Want to take up cooking after being busy with life for years? Want to reignite that lost passion for painting? How about that career change you've always dreamed of? You first have to be in a state that comes from resting and refreshing thoroughly - then you can embrace what rejuvenation will bring. For us to recognize the importance of all three (rest, refresh, and rejuvenate) in ourselves and others is powerful. When we understand how to do the three, then we can help others first recognize they too need to practice and experience them. We must weave the conversation of rest, refresh, and rejuvenation into our conversations regularly – for health, wellness, and well-being.

Feeling overwhelmed and stressed out for the holidays? Yeah, me too. This morning, at the Ripple Intent Breakfast Club, we talked about how to help ditch those feelings and make time for yourself and your loved ones to relax and replenish, even during hectic times. Just being a part of this group, and this discussion, was incredibly rejuvenating, and exactly what I needed to move forward into the next two weeks. It was great to see some new faces, regular participants and old friends this morning, and we definitely had some laughs and epiphanies along the way. Thank you, Vertix Builders, Inc. for hosting, and Val Williams for being my hilarious partner in facilitation. See you at the next Breakfast Club in January: https://lnkd.in/gBuuxzYd
