  • Yesterday, we had the pleasure of hosting 5th graders from Pavilion Elementary School for an exciting day of discovery and hands-on fun! The students explored the fascinating worlds of packaging and printing, engaging with our talented faculty and experiencing the cutting-edge technology in our labs. Their enthusiasm was contagious as they learned about materials, testing, and the science behind packaging and printing innovation. The visit wrapped up with an exhilarating egg drop contest that had everyone cheering! It was truly a blast, and we’re so grateful for the opportunity to share our passion with such bright young minds. Thank you, Pavilion Elementary, for an unforgettable day! #rit #ritcet #eggdropcontest #packaging #printing #pavilionelementary

I am proud to announce the successful completion of my co-op experience with PepsiCo! Over the past six months, I’ve had the incredible opportunity to expand my packaging knowledge, build meaningful connections, and grow both professionally and personally. During my time with PepsiCo, I supported the Technical Brand Stewardship team by driving productivity and cost savings across various packaging initiatives through plant trials, quality checks and distribution testing. I also collaborated cross-functionally with several teams to perform a competitive analysis for the global brand, SodaStream Bubly Drops. Alongside my main projects, I was fortunate to explore and learn about PepsiCo's business and culture. I had the opportunity to engage with and gain insights from the Gatorade Sports Science Institute, focus groups, product development, analytical forensics, and the design center, further enriching my co-op experience. I want to extend a special thank you to my co-op manager, Deug Woo (Monica) Lee , for her continuous support and encouragement throughout my time here. I’m also incredibly grateful to the Valhalla Co-op Leadership Board, Anup Joshi and Colin Haynes, PMP, CPP for their guidance and for providing the resources and opportunities that made this experience very rewarding. Lastly, a big thank you to my fellow beverage co-ops, Eleanor White , Yang Lou, Dong Zhao & Naomi Halperin — I had such a fun time navigating this experience with you all and wish you the very best in your future endeavors. As I approach my final semester at Rochester Institute of Technology this spring, I’m excited to graduate this May from RIT Packaging and Graphic Media Science program and am looking forward to the next chapter in my career journey! I had an amazing time at PepsiCo and I highly recommend this co-op to anyone who may be interested! 😊

    Honors Marketing Student at RIT

Happy holidays everyone! 🎄 In the spirit of holiday cheer, I wanted to share some exciting news. This past semester (after much anticipation), I completed MAAT 106 - Typography at Rochester Institute of Technology. Unbeknownst to me, this course worked in collaboration with Canon USA Business to partake in their annual University Inkjet Program, educating students about print industry trends and Canon's inkjet technology. On top of educational materials, this program also hosts a different competition each year, with this year's prompt requiring us to design a marketing pocket folder and 6 inserts for a fictitious product or service. Within the first day I already knew what I was going to base my project around: Chapter & Charm, a library hotel. Combining two of my greatest passions -- reading and hospitality -- Chapter & Charm was formed and I set off to develop the business's branding. Through many insightful discussions with my professor, Irma Abu-Jumah, and the wonderful team at Canon, I developed my dream literary getaway, and designed various marketing pieces that not only grab the viewers' attentions, but print beautifully with Canon printers as well. With all that said, I am excited to share that I was awarded 2nd place in the University Inkjet Program! This project was an absolute delight to partake in and I am so proud of my finished pieces (pictured below). I'd like to thank Valentina Echavarria Zarate, MBA and Melody Ownby for their guidance and inspiration throughout the semester, and for their continuous collaboration with RIT. Being able to work with such a renowned company was an honor, and provided a great opportunity for me to improve my skills in Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop. Graphic design has rapidly become one of my favorite subjects during my time at RIT, and I look forward to future design opportunities! 😊

Marketing @ RIT | Designer, Entrepreneur, Researcher | Integrating marketing techniques into seamless brand touchpoints

This semester I had the opportunity to work with Canon Solutions America to design a promotional folder for a fictitious company of my creation. This was part of a competition through their University Inkjet Program, in conjunction with my Typography and Page Design course, to teach students about best practices in designing for inkjet printing. At the beginning of December, I was announced as the winner of this semester's competition and I am honored to receive this award from Canon. Over the course of the semester, I worked diligently and meticulously to take my designs to new levels and to produce this promotional folder and inserts with a consistent brand and theme. Given that I am still learning Adobe InDesign and Illustrator, I put countless hours into my planning, researching and implementation of my designs, not to mention all the copywriting I did. My intention with this promotional folder wasn’t just to create something random, but rather to create something with meaning and impact. As with the rest of my goals, projects, and extracurriculars, I strive to create meaning and impact not only for those around me but for my future, with a focus to create impact on a larger scale. Thus, Urbanly Rooted Design Co. is a representation of my core values - Sustainability; Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion; and Transparency. I want to thank Canon Solutions America and the University Inkjet Program team for giving me the opportunity to work on such an amazing and fulfilling project. This truly has helped shape my confidence within the design world and after almost withdrawing from my typography class, has inspired me to continue pursuing my ambitions, regardless of the challenge. Afterall, they always say “Most people give up just when they're about to achieve success. They quit on the one yard line.” and sometimes, it takes being on that one yard line, ready to give up and then succeeding, to really understand how true that statement is. **Note: As part of the requirements for the competition, we were limited to using iStock images. As part of the prize for first place, Canon would purchase these images and print final copies that I will receive at the beginning of next year. The images below are just a glimpse into the final product that I created. *You can see the full scope of my designs in the Project section on my profile.
