Keeping Families Close
About us
Ronald McDonald House Charities® of Southern California (RMHCSC) is committed to providing comfort, care and support to children and families in Southern California through a variety of wellness and educational programs. Across the Southland, RMHCSC is working to create a community where children and families embrace life and healing with a sense of hope, enthusiasm, courage and joy. RMHCSC currently operates eight Ronald McDonald Houses® in Bakersfield, Loma Linda, Long Beach, Los Angeles, Orange and Pasadena. Ronald McDonald Houses located throughout Southern California help families stay close to their child when they need treatment for a serious medical condition. Our Houses provide a home-like setting, close to the region's top hospitals, where families can stay free-of charge for as long as necessary. We also operate Ronald McDonald Family Rooms at CHOC Children's Hospital in Orange and CHOC Children's at Mission Hospital. We are one of very few Ronald McDonald House Charities chapters across the world that operates a cost-free, medically-supervised Camp for children with cancer and their families, Camp Ronald McDonald For Good Times®. We support the children of our Southland communities by awarding scholarships to high–achieving high school seniors and providing grants to non–profit organizations working to improve the lives of children.

🎉You may know that 2025 is a big year for the Los Angeles Ronald McDonald House - we’re celebrating our 45th Anniversary! ✨While we look back and recognize all that has been achieved throughout the last 4 decades, we also look to the future of how we can serve more families, better. We know that with your support, we can achieve our vision of every family having what they need to ensure the best health outcome for their child. 👏🏻 In 2024 we served 484 families during their most challenging moments and added a licensed medical social worker to our team providing more than 1,000 hours of case management and resource support to our most vulnerable families. 💰With a 2025 operating budget of $3.4m, I’m hoping you will support our Walk for Kids this year. Every donation, big or small, allows us to continue serving families with critically ill children. Thank you so much in advance for your support! https://lnkd.in/dqcunuWM

Amidst the devastation of these wildfire, there have been countless “Moments of Hope, Powered by Community”❤️ Yesterday, our #CEOonTheGo Fatima Djelmane Rodriguez and Marketing & Community Engagement Manager, Brenda Escoto Carden, M.S. joined our Southern California McFamily at the iconic #RoseBowlStadium to provide hot meals for the 3,500 firefighters and emergency responders battling the #EatonFire to protect our communities. We are deeply inspired by the unwavering dedication of our #McFamily, who continue to support both the broader community and the families at our Los Angeles and Pasadena Ronald McDonald Houses. While these fires persist, the bravery and compassion we witnessed yesterday remind us that together, we will overcome and emerge stronger than ever. #LAstrong ❤️ #CommunityInAction Ronald McDonald House Charities McDonald's Melissa Puls Vicki Holloway

The fires have disrupted our ability to host our incredible “Meals of Love” volunteer force, who typically prepare warm, home-cooked meals for our families each day at our Los Angeles Ronald McDonald House . If you’d like to help us provide a nourishing meal for our families, you can donate a DoorDash gift card for the mealtime of your choice using the link below! 🍽️ https://lnkd.in/gkE4dFV8 Thank you for sll who continue to check in on us and ask how they can help! Thank you to everyone who has reached out to check in on us and most importantly to the firefighters and emergency responders who are working tirelessly to protect our communities. Update: our Ronald McDonald House Pasadena and Los Angeles Ronald McDonald House , along with our families and staff, remain safe from the fires but are located very close to them. The dangerous air quality is a serious concern as we prioritize the safety of those staying in our Houses. To safeguard our immunocompromised children, their families, and our staff from the hazardous air, we are asking for N95 masks and HEPA air purifiers. For those who have reached out asking how to support our Houses, please find donation details in the slides attached. Thank you. ❤️ #eatonfire #palisadesfire #sunsetfire

This past Thursday, we were awarded the Nonprofit of the Year by Ventura Chamber of Commerce. Our wonderful & dedicated Family Room Manager, Jacquelyn, had the honor in accepting the award on behalf of the Ventura Family Room! ❤️ She was joined by Dr. Andrei Bobrow and Clay and June Paschen. Clay Paschen and Dr. Bobrow are two of our board members of the VRMFR and we wanted to thank them for their support and commitment of the Ventura Family Room! We also want to extend our gratitude to Ventura County Medical Center and their CEO, Dr. John Fankhauser. The VRMFR has a unique relationship with VCMC, being the first Ronald McDonald Program in the nation to partner with a county safety-net hospital. 💙 Stay tuned for more pictures! ***all persons depicted have consented to the use, disclosure, and publication of this post*** #vcmc #ventura #ronaldmcdonaldhousecharitiessoutherncalifornia #VRMFR

We’re so grateful to Edward Jones for continually making a positive impact in the community! Their recent Bag-A-Thon Community Food Drive brought in over 200 much-needed items to stock the pantry of the Ventura Ronald McDonald Family Room. 💙 Edward Jones' generosity helps provide much needed resources to our families while their child receives treatment. 💛 #VRMFR #RMHCSC #FoodDrive #EdwardJones #BagAThon

This Giving Tuesday, we were honored to join Ronald McDonald House Charities Global CEO Katie Fitzgerald, CDO Shannon Duval, FAHP, CFRE, and Mattel, Inc. CEO Ynon Kreiz for their inspiring annual Giving Tuesday Fireside Chat. The conversation highlighted the incredible connection between purposeful play and family well-being—values that both RMHC and Mattel champion. After the chat, we came together to build 1,000 Play Kits that will bring joy and comfort to RMHC families worldwide. A big thank you Mattel for your continued support and for an inspiring #GivingTuesday!
During this season of giving, Ronald McDonald House Charities is teaming up with Mattel, Inc. to bring joy and comfort to RMHC families around the world. I had the honor of joining Mattel Chairman and CEO, Ynon Kreiz, for their annual Giving Tuesday fireside chat, where we discussed the powerful connection of coming together to keep families together and strong during their most challenging times. RMHC and Mattel share a commitment to purposeful play as a key enabler to family well-being and the healing process for children. Mattel has supported local RMHC Chapters around the world for more than 10 years through volunteering, toy donations, board support and event sponsorships. Following the fireside chat, employees at Mattel HQ built 1,000 Play Kits. Filled with iconic toys like Barbie, Hot Wheels, and UNO, these kits will bring the power of play and togetherness to families at RMHC Chapters across the world. On behalf of the entire RMHC System and the families we serve, thank you to Ynon and all Mattel employees and Fatima Djelmane Rodriguez and the team at Ronald McDonald House Charities of SoCal (RMHCSC) as we, together, advance a world where every family has what they need to ensure the best health outcomes for their children.
