In late 2023, the Rootstock team and Carter Parrish from Robotproof met to discuss creating a community built around authentic connections, genuine conversations, and good energy that would allow us all to meet and collaborate with our neighbors in ATL’s vibrant marketing community. Not in a forced networking way, but in an informal, inspirational, “Hey, how can we all support each other and lift each other up?” kind of way. We all had the sense that people were yearning to step out from behind their computer screens and get back out IRL to connect authentically with other like-minded and like-valued industry folks. So we created the Atlanta Marketing Mixer. After three well-received events in ’24, we launched our ’25 series at Dr. Scofflaw’s at The Works last Wednesday and we couldn’t have asked for a better kickoff. On a cold, rainy evening, more than 30 people (including lots of new faces!) joined us to build #community, share ideas, meet other cool people, and have fun while doing it. The energy in the space was incredible, filled with the constant din of animated conversations, new connections lighting people up, ideas being tossed around. At any given time you could look around and see nearly 10 different conversations happening. Big thanks to all those who braved the elements to make this an incredible evening and set us up for a rocking 2025 event series. Bearing witness to this growing community makes our hearts so full. Our next event will be in late April, so stay tuned! As we continue honoring Black thought leaders during Black History Month, we're revisiting Amanda G.'s spellbinding delivery of her poem, "The Hill We Climb." Gorman, the youngest inaugural poet in U.S. history, just released a new children's book, "Girls on the Rise," and continues to share her thought leadership with audiences across the country through speaking engagements, her newsletter, and writing for major outlets including The New York Times and Nike. She is also the youngest board member of 826 National, the largest youth writing network in the United States. At even such a young age we admire how she has clearly identified her truth, and is sharing it to elevate us all.
