Over a 20-year career at CNBC, Jennifer Northam RC’94 travelled the world interviewing everyone from CEOs to famous actors before ultimately settling in London. First introduced to journalism at Rutgers, she is now the cofounder of an independent creative agency in London. "It really gives me a depth of experience and richness that's been hard to match. And I really believe I would not be where I am today if it was not for that professor at Rutgers who really pushed me." Congratulations, Jackie SAS'16, GSE'17! #MakingRutgersProud
"Today I was completely surprised and honored to be named Teacher of the Year for Herbert Hoover Middle School in Edison! These last 8 years as a middle school English teacher have dramatically shaped who I am as a teacher, mother, and human being. I am so lucky to have spent my entire teaching career in this same classroom with these people that have evolved from co-workers, to friends, to family that I am raising my children with. The GSE is still such a major influence in my teaching style. Being a teacher is, and will always be, one of my proudest accomplishments." Congratulations, Jackie Burzichelli Fallon, GSE Elementary/Middle School program alum! 🎉

Lauren Sisler RC'06 is an Emmy Award-winning sports broadcaster and college football reporter for ESPN whose infectious “sideline shimmy” dance has made her a fan favorite nationwide. But the often-smiling Sisler had to fight her way back to happiness, navigating an impossible grief that nearly derailed her education. This fall, she published a memoir: "Shatterproof: How I Overcame the Shame of Losing My Parents to Opioid Addiction (and Found My Sideline Shimmy)." This is her story. #WEAREYOU

Rutgers University leaders announced the new Rutgers Democracy Lab at the Eagleton Institute of Politics, a student-centered long-term initiative to support civic education and create broad civic engagement opportunities, will launch on the New Brunswick campus in January. Based on the principle that democracy is strengthened when informed citizens understand how government is structured, how to discern truth from disinformation, and how to civilly engage with people who hold different views, the Rutgers Democracy Lab (RDL) will draw on university students, faculty and researchers and students to connect with community members, civic groups, practitioners and others to help tackle challenges facing American democracy and society. https://bit.ly/3ZkTOY8
