  • Let's dive into the significance of threshold quantities! #SaltegraFYI Threshold quantities are critical metrics for public safety and regulatory compliance when managing hazardous substances. They define the minimum amounts of toxic chemicals that, if released, could pose significant risks to human health and the environment. Understanding these thresholds is essential for effective emergency planning, response, and Process Safety Management (PSM). According to the OSHA PSM Standard, facilities must implement PSM if they handle: - Chemicals listed in Appendix A of the standard at or above their specified threshold quantities. - Category 1 flammable gases (as defined in 1910.1200(c)) or flammable liquids with a flashpoint below 100 °F (37.8 °C) in quantities of 10,000 pounds (4535.9 kg) or more, except in the following cases: - Hydrocarbon fuels used exclusively on-site for energy purposes (e.g., propane for heating or gasoline for vehicles), provided they are not part of processes handling other hazardous chemicals regulated under this standard. - Flammable liquids with a flashpoint below 100 °F (37.8 °C) stored in atmospheric tanks or transferred while maintained below their normal boiling point without chilling or refrigeration. The standard does not apply to: - Retail facilities - Oil or gas well drilling or servicing operations - Normally unoccupied remote facilities For more information, visit www.saltegra.com and www.osha.gov!

  • A great photo opportunity with Saltegra's Operations Manager, Engr. Reyson Dela Cruz and the attendees! This was taken after his insightful talk on “Safety Moments Using 14 PSM Elements: Distilling Lessons Learned from the 5 Most Catastrophic Process Safety Incidents in Recent History” at the PIChE Laguna General Membership Meeting 2024, held at Mapúa Malayan Colleges Laguna. The annual general membership assembly featured a seminar focused on the theme “Building a Culture of Safety: Engineering for Zero Incidents,” which Engr. Dela Cruz presented alongside Engr. Veronica Luna and Engr. Mark Carlo Guevarra from Fluor Corporation. Thank you to all the attendees for your interest in process safety!
