Did you know that most Americans are only getting 10 grams of fiber a day, but we really need 30? 🥑🌱 Fiber is a game-changer—it helps balance hormones, reduces gut inflammation, and flushes out toxins. It's as simple as adding more fiber-rich foods to your diet! 💪 One avocado (up to 15 grams) and a bowl of black beans (15 grams) can easily get you to your daily goal. So, keep that avocado in the fridge, stock up on beans, and make your meals delicious and nutrient-packed! Your body will thank you! 💚

🚨 PCOS is NOT a disease, it's a collection of symptoms that have one thing in common: irregular ovulation. 🚨 The thing is, PCOS looks different on everyone—some don't exhibit any noticeable symptoms, and others suffer from multiple. This is why weight loss is so difficult for women experiencing PCOS—this condition is linked to obesity, insulin resistance, and infertility. 😖 Losing weight with PCOS without heavy medication or procedures is possible, you just have to know the right practitioner. Healing the gut is about more than just managing symptoms like chronic diarrhea and malabsorption. It’s essential to look deeper—issues like SIBO might be a piece of the puzzle, but underlying factors such as mold exposure and toxicity often play a bigger role. Focus on supporting your adrenal and hormonal health first, creating a strong foundation for safe, effective detoxification. Taking the right steps at the right time can make all the difference!

Does going out for dinner stress you out? 😫 Maybe you feel mostly fine day-to-day when you’re preparing your own food and know exactly what’s in it. And then you eat out at a cafe or restaurant and all of a sudden feel SO out of control. You have no idea what’s in the food and whether you’re going to end up suffering consequences later. This used to be me. If you have to avoid a bunch of different foods and be super careful of what you eat, here’s something you need to know. It’s not about the food. There’s a reason that you’re reacting to that food, and if you figure out the root cause and address it, you can get rid of your gut issues for good. Which means you can enjoy meals out with friends and family without stressing about how you feel later. Tag someone who can relate to this!

Why Fiber is a MUST for Your Health… Getting enough fiber in your diet is crucial for overall well-being! Here’s why: 1️⃣ Supports Gut Health: Fiber helps reduce gut inflammation, promoting a balanced microbiome. 2️⃣ Balances Hormones: It plays a key role in hormone regulation, reducing symptoms of imbalance. 3️⃣ Detoxifies the Body: Fiber binds to toxins and helps eliminate them, supporting your liver and kidneys. But where does fiber come from? A common misconception I hear from my patients is that a big bowl of leafy greens (like arugula or spinach) is enough to hit their fiber goals. 🌿 Yes, veggies are great, but a bowl of leafy greens only has less than 1 gram of fiber! Now, compare that to a bowl of black beans, which packs 15 grams of fiber. 💥 To truly support your health, aim for 30 grams of fiber per day—the average American only gets 10-15 grams. Keep a stash of high-fiber foods like beans, lentils, chia seeds, and whole grains on hand to easily boost your intake!

Here’s why these foods are included 👇 🍳 Eggs - high quality protein source and contain choline which is super important for a baby's healthy brain development and preventing neural tube defects. Most people are deficient - only around 11% of the population consumes enough choline! 🥬 Leafy greens eg. spinach & kale - contain folate which supports fertility and reduces birth defects. Eating the rainbow means you’ll get enough fibre plus antioxidants to support a healthy pregnancy. 🍣 Fatty fish eg. salmon and sardines - contain high quality protein and healthy fats. The omega 3 fats found in fatty fish like salmon and sardines can help you get pregnant faster by reducing inflammation (fatty fish are also low in mercury). 💛 Grass fed butter & ghee - full fat dairy is associated with improved fertility, and grass-fed butter and ghee are also a great source of fat soluble vitamins. 🦪 Oysters - highest food source of zinc, which supports ovulation, egg fertilisation and development of a healthy baby. It’s also important for sperm health. 82% of pregnant women don’t consume enough zinc, so this is an important one to consider. ❤️ Liver - the most nutrient dense food in existence. Great source of iron, zinc, folate and choline - all key nutrients in supporting fertility and a healthy pregnancy. You can consume quality liver pate, look for a local butcher that adds organ meat to mince, or go for a capsule version. 🥩 Grass-fed meat - contains highly absorbable iron which is important for pregnancy (also a high quality protein source!) 🌊 Seaweed - a great source of iodine to support your thyroid and fertility. You can make your own sushi or wraps using nori, or sprinkle pulse flakes over salad. 🥑 Avocado - contain monounsaturated fats, fibre and antioxidants which are linked to improvements in birth outcomes, plus they’re a great source of folate. Which one(s) were your fav in your pregnancy? 💛

Symptom suppression is not the same as resolving the root cause of your symptoms 💣 🫶🏻Medication can provide symptoms relief and are necessary in many instances, but working towards figuring out the “WHY” behind your symptoms is important for resolution 🕵🏻♀️ Our goal as functional practitioners is to find out WHY you have thyroid dysfunction, WHY are your periods irregular or painful, WHY are you so tired all the time, WHY are you struggling getting pregnant, WHY are you bloated or having heartburn. We help our clients find their root cause by: 💫Assessing nutritional intake (food, nutrients, minerals, fluids) 💫Assessing lifestyle factors (sleep, stress, movement, toxin exposure) 💫Digging deeper with functional testing 🎉This allows us to look at your body as a whole and use personalized nutrition to help you feel your best again! 💃🏻If you are ready to stop guessing and figure out the root cause of your symptoms let’s chat! Are you inflamed?🔥 Inflammation is your body's defense and plays a role in the healing process. But..when this inflammation becomes chronic, it can lead to chronic health issues. Chronic inflammation can come from many different things (my next post will go in-depth on that). But, it can cause symptoms that interfere with your life. It can even cause your body to develop autoimmune disorders, hormonal imbalances and gut dysfunction. These are all common symptoms in many of my patients, and it is entirely possible to get this under control. Chronic inflammation is linked to health issues like heart disease, diabetes, and autoimmune conditions. Here’s how to keep it in check: 1️⃣ Eat an Anti-Inflammatory Diet: Focus on whole foods like: 🍓 Fruits (berries, oranges) 🥦 Veggies (leafy greens, broccoli) 🐟 Healthy Fats (salmon, olive oil) 🍵 Spices (turmeric, ginger) 2️⃣ Manage Stress: Chronic stress fuels inflammation. Practice: 🧘♀️ Meditation or yoga 🌳 Time in nature 🗣️ Journaling or therapy 3️⃣ Get Quality Sleep: Poor sleep raises inflammatory markers. Aim for: 🌙 7–9 hours of restful sleep nightly 🌑 A consistent bedtime routine 4️⃣ Stay Active: Regular exercise reduces inflammatory proteins. Try: 🚶♂️ Daily walks or light jogging 🏋️ Strength training or yoga 5️⃣ Reduce Toxin Exposure: Limit exposure to: 🚫 Processed foods, sugary drinks 🧴 Harmful chemicals in cleaning or beauty products 6️⃣ Support Your Gut: A healthy gut lowers inflammation. Feed it: 🥗 Fiber-rich foods (whole grains, veggies) 🥛 Probiotics (yogurt, fermented foods) ✨ Pro tip: Chronic inflammation isn’t always obvious. Regular health check-ups can help identify and manage it early! Save and share it 💖
