About us

The School of Social Sciences aims to provide students with the skills to consciously and ethically pursue social justice and social change within their chosen fields in Western Sydney, the wider community and globally. Students are offered frameworks to think critically, innovate and independently evaluate the shifting social worlds around them. The School's research seeks to achieve both excellence and impact in Western Sydney and the world. Our research has a strong focus on Diversity and Human Rights in the School's core disciplines of Anthropology, Criminology, Cyber Security, Development Studies, Geography, Sociology, Social Work and Therapy Studies and Counselling. The School's researchers are committed to partnership and collaboration across the University and the sector. The School of Social Sciences is committed to supporting the UN Sustainable Development Goals, Western Sydney University's Indigenous Strategy and the 21C Curriculum.
