We are proud to share that the SpaceRISE consortium, uniting Europe’s key players in space and telecommunications, has officially signed the contract with the European Commission and the European Space Agency - ESA for the #IRIS2 constellation in Brussels today. This marks a pivotal step towards Europe’s strategic autonomy in space. The IRIS² MEO and LEO satellite network will be a foundation for Europe’s digital sovereignty, delivering: - Secure connectivity services for EU Member States and governmental authorities. - High-speed broadband for companies and European citizens, including coverage in connectivity-deprived zones. Congratulations to Planet on their next-gen satellite, Pelican-2, arriving at Vandenberg Space Force Base ahead of next month's launch. Equipped with C and Ka-band radios, Pelican-2 will conduct Planet's first on-orbit tests of satellite-to-satellite communication links, pushing the boundaries of connectivity in space. We're excited to see Planet's partnership with us and Telesat Government Solutions driving innovation in the NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration CSP program! 👏
Pelican-2 and 36 Doves have landed! Our next generation, high-resolution satellite and 36 SuperDoves arrived at Vandenberg Space Force Base ahead of next month’s launch. Pelican-2 is equipped with the NVIDIA Jetson platform for edge AI to power on-orbit computing, which will vastly reduce the time between data capture and its availability for analysis.
