🐾 Lessons in Leadership, Coaching, and Mentorship from My Two Dogs 🐾 While walking my dogs, I was struck by how much their dynamic resembles the principles of great coaching and mentorship—much like a sled formation. In sledding, the lead dog(s) set the pace and navigates the team forward. The rest follow, relying on their trust in the leader while contributing their own strength to move the team ahead. Similarly, in coaching and mentorship: • The Leader (Coach): Provides direction, clarity, and sets the example. • The Team (Mentee): Offers their own skills and energy, knowing they are guided and supported. My dogs remind me that this relationship is not one-directional—it’s built on mutual trust and communication. • Sometimes, the leader needs to slow down and check in. • Other times, the team’s energy inspires the leader to keep going. At SETS, we believe in fostering this same dynamic within every coaching or mentoring relationship we have. Whether you’re leading or following, there’s always an opportunity to learn, adapt, and grow.
