Congratulations to the entire Project NEXT team for a successful 'Big Beam' weekend! From Friday night to early Monday morning, crews detoured the northbound lanes of the I-495 Beltway and safely erected 5 rows of girders for a future ramp. Spanning 295 feet and consisting of 10 beams, each girder was over 11 feet tall and 3 feet wide and weighed between 70 and 80 tons. This could have only been successful through the detailed planning, coordination and cooperation of a lot of dedicated and hardworking individuals. Special thanks to each and every construction team member, High Steel Structures LLC, The Lane Construction Corporation, Virginia Department of Transportation, Transurban, Virginia State Police, Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority, and of course the public for doing their part to avoid the area!

The Team at Rockland Road set the last of 15 girders on Tuesday over the Norfolk Southern Railroad in Front Royal, VA a month ahead of schedule. This VDOT project removes an at-grade crossing of Rockland Road with the Norfolk Southern Railroad, directly adjacent to the Virginia Inland Port which experiences significant train traffic. Subcontractor Interlock Steelworkers performed the erection of the steel girders which were fabricated by Structural Steel Products. As part of the I-495 NEXT project, #Shirley recently opened the new Old Dominion Drive bridge over I-495. This will allow demolition of the old bridge and construction of pedestrian facilities. Congrats to the Team on this milestone! #roadconstruction #transportation #highway

Here's a video clip from last week during of our 2025 Annual Week of Service. Clark Water (Clark Construction Group) and #Shirley sent out 5 teams for 5 consecutive days to Mobile Hope to help them with a new flooring project. The flooring we installed spanned the main space and three new dressing rooms for their new store space. Thanks to all of our volunteers! We saved Mobile Hope almost 2 months of labor costs and time, which will allow them to focus their efforts on the kids. We look forward to the grand opening for this newly redesigned space. Mobile Hope supports homeless children from age 0 to 24. We also donated $570 in Walmart gift certificates, 3 brand new tents, 6 new sleeping bags, blankets, yoga mats, pillows, coats, hats, scarfs, and other clothing. Making an impact in our local community is extremely important to all of us. Well done Team! #communityservice #supportlocal
