Shining as one since 1917. As each individual sister, each spark, is brought together the world ahead shines brighter.
About us
Sigma Delta Tau is a national sorority and member of the National Panhellenic Conference. SDT was founded on March 25, 1917, at Cornell University by seven Jewish women determined to create an inclusive space. The Sigma Delta Tau headquarters is in Carmel, Indiana, and staffed by professionals. There are 3 traveling Leadership Consultants each year. A national Board of Directors provides oversight and guidance for the organization. A strong base of alumnae volunteers provide support to the organization and individual chapters. Other women may be connected to the organization through their profile due to serving at their local chapters or through volunteerism. The Sigma Delta Tau Foundation was founded in 1963 as a separate not-for-profit corporation. The Sigma Delta Tau Foundation is committed to encouraging the growth of both collegian and alumnae, by supporting educational endeavors and leadership programming. The SDT Foundation is managed by one staff Director, three volunteer officers and nine trustees.

If you could be in a throwback...it’s time to give back! Together we have built a foundation of excellence, and together, we will continue to carry the torch from generation to generation of sisters. During this season of giving, the SDT Foundation invites you to renew your commitment to our sisterhood and join with alumnae donors in making a difference before December 31. Our philanthropic partner, Jewish Women International (JWI), hosted their JWI Women to Watch event this week, focused on advancing women’s leadership, ending gender-based violence, and building economic security. SDT is always well-represented throughout the JWI Board and staff, but we are especially proud this year of the event keynote speaker, Dr. Logan Levkoff (Beta–UPenn), 2024 Women to Watch Honoree Madison Wallach (Alpha–Cornell), and the JWI Board Chair, Michelle Carlson (Gamma Psi–Arizona State). We are ever grateful for this powerful partnership.

Inclusion matters to SDT, so we will always have conversations that matter. We co-hosted the 8th Annual Summit Against Hate for fraternity and sorority professionals this afternoon at the AFA Annual Meeting in Indianapolis. With our partners from Alpha Epsilon Phi, Sigma Alpha Mu, and Zeta Beta Tau, we created space to address antisemitism on college campuses, and provided resources and strategies to support colleagues working closest with Jewish communities. None of this would be possible without the generosity of the SDT Foundation. In addition to other tools, participants received these 52 Conversations that Matter card decks with conversational prompts.

National Vice President Jessica Ryan (Gamma Eta–South Florida) will be honored with the Sue Kraft Fussell Distinguished Service Award tonight at the AFA Annual Meeting. The recognition is presented to individuals who exhibit outstanding achievements in service to the fraternity/sorority industry. Congratulations, Jess! You are so deserving of this recognition!
