About us
Rebuilding lives, one senior at a time. Silver Sobriety's mission is to provide older adults with affordable non-residential recovery services for alcohol and drug addiction. Our recovery program offers education, recovery services and support to adults ages 50 and older. Older adults may not relate to younger people whose problems, life experience and drugs of choice are different from their own. Our unique model of recovery services help older adults connect with their peers and work on issues unique to their age group. In addition to Twelve Step facilitation, we provide strategies that enable older adults to handle loss, depression, loneliness, cognitive difficulties, chronic pain and grief. "We believe that no matter your age, you can overcome substance abuse with the right support and resources."

Procrastination can feel like an endless loop, but breaking free starts with small steps. Remember, progress is progress, no matter how small. Identify what's causing the delay—fear, overwhelm, or perfectionism? Acknowledge it, then take a deep breath and move forward, one step at a time. You’ve got this. Change begins with action, not perfection. #MentalHealthAwareness #HOPE #Procrastination

This article titled, "Relapse Prevention and the Five Rules of Recovery" has some great information about recognizing signs of relapse - before you relapse. The author, Steven Melemis, describes three stages of relapse: 1) emotional, 2) mental, and 3) physical. "In mental relapse, there is a war going on inside people’s minds. Part of them wants to use, but part of them doesn’t... These are some of the signs of mental relapse: 1. Craving for drugs or alcohol 2. Thinking about people, places, and things associated with past use 3. Minimizing consequences of past use or glamorizing past use 4. Bargaining 5. Lying 6. Thinking of schemes to better control using 7. Looking for relapse opportunities 8. Planning a relapse." Recognize signs of potential relapse and reach out for help.
