Last night, I was reminded that the road we walk as #climatetech leaders is neither solitary nor separate from the broader story of #innovation. At times, I’ve felt like we hold ourselves apart, seeing our work as “different” or “other.” But tonight, being honored by PledgeLA , Annenberg Foundation City of Los Angeles and Mayor Bass, it’s clear that our efforts are not just seen—they are celebrated. Climate tech belongs not in the margins but right on the main stage. This recognition isn’t just about me or ChargerHelp It belongs to everyone in LA tech ecosystem who carried us forward—Anna Barber Miki Reynolds Brittany Crockett Derek Smith Calvin S. Qiana Patterson Vaughn Blake Matt Petersen Selika Josiah Talbott Cody Peterson Austin Clements and so many others who believe in our mission, speak our name in rooms we aren’t in, and champion our work. Their support reminds me of the power of community and how important it is to have people who see the bigger picture with you. Focusing on the EV driver experience isn’t just about solving technical issues—it’s about breaking barriers and ensuring that solutions like ours take their rightful place. Los Angeles, a city that breathes possibility, has proven time and again what happens when people come together to drive meaningful change. I feel so much gratitude—for this recognition, for the #LongLA #LAtech community, for my team and for the chance to serve. This moment is a reminder of how far we’ve come and how much more there is to do. Thank you to PledgeLA Annenberg Foundation the City of Los Angeles and every person who’s lifted ChargerHelp higher. Together, we’re building something extraordinary, and I’m so excited for what’s next. Let’s keep going. #LAtech #LongLA

tl;dr - we launched a social podcast player. it's awesome. download pls details at end of post. pls support 🙏 now...story time. ----- Trust the Process. While living in LA, far away from Philly with my Sixers on a fast track to nowhere, Rick Heitzmann introduced me to the Rights to Ricky Sanchez podcast. I found my tribe. This pod was all in on The Process. It made the many terrible years actually fun. There were inside jokes, weird references, Enemies of The Process. At some point Rick created a group chat of fellow degenerate Sixers fans in tech/media/venture. This was a group of very impressive people - but in the chat, we were all 5th graders rooting for players like TJ McConnell and Dario Saric. A few of us would run into each other at industry events and exchange a nod and a “Trust the Processes” greeting, like a Fight Club for self loathing Philly fans. My son, now 18, grew up listening to the Ricky. It started on long drives to AAU games. But by now, I’m afraid he’s spent more total time listening to Spike Eskin's voice than most authority figures in his life. Coaches and teachers come and go, but The Ricky has always been there. That’s the magic of podcasts. Whether you’re a 92%er (New Heights), a Critter (Critical Role), or a Murderino (My Favorite Murder), podcasts don’t just entertain us—they give us a sense of belonging. They’re our communities. And that sense of community feels rare these days. As we moved online, connecting and staying in touch became easier than ever before—but, ironically, we’ve never felt more alone. We traded deep, meaningful interactions for likes and retweets. We swapped long conversations into the night for 10-second dance clips served by algorithms. Despite being constantly connected, we’re lonelier than ever. Podcasts, on the other hand, stand in stark contrast to this. That’s because they fit in with our lives - we listen while we drive, while we do stuff around the house, while we’re working out - so we spend more time with podcasts. And yet the dominant podcast players have done little to support that. Podcasting, for the most part, is a single player game. That’s why we built Cooler. Cooler makes listening more fun, more social, and more rewarding. Comments and reactions let you connect with the community. Leaderboards and Streaks let you show and grow your fandom. The Discover feed helps you see what people from your podcast communities are sharing and listening to. There’s so much innovation possible, and we’re just getting started. If you’ve read this far, do me a favor: 1. Download it at cooler[dot]fm (iOS only for now). Use my exclusive code MIKESFAVES 2. Switch your podcast listening for a couple weeks. Import your playlist, subscribe to your favorite podcasts 3. Spread the love and invite friends to listen with you. Reshare this post. Help us get the word out. Thank you. Love you all. Trust the Process. #podcasts #social #startups #apps #consumer #trustthedamnprocess

By 2030, the U.S. will face an unprecedented aging crisis—are we prepared? At Slauson & Co., our 2030 demographic research highlights some pressing trends: 👵🏽 Aging Population Boom By 2030, nearly a quarter of Americans will be over 65, a significant demographic shift. Yet, there's a lack of critical infrastructure to support this aging population, especially for underserved communities. 🏥 Unsustainable Healthcare System The current U.S. healthcare system is neither sustainable, affordable, nor timely. Our aging population will require solutions that combine personalization and efficiency. That is why we emphasize the need for culturally competent, fast, and affordable care, especially elder care, to improve the quality of life for all individuals. 🧳 Immigration Solutions Immigration is poised to surpass the natural population increase by 2030. We’re interested in startups that leverage technology to offer faster, inclusive, and more affordable solutions that help immigrants integrate into a new society. 🌅 Holistic End-of-Life Services While it's a difficult topic, our aging nation will need new, holistic end-of-life services to help individuals prepare for themselves and their families. Access to financial tools and education for end-of-life planning should be available to all, regardless of background. 💡What are your thoughts on these trends? And what are some companies already building innovative solutions in these areas? 👉 For more insights, check out our full research here: https://lnkd.in/gzYQ2gA7

So what’s the difference between Pre-Seed vs. Seed Stage? At a recent Slauson Spaces panel, our Investment Principal, Jesús Salas, shared his expertise on how investors define pre-seed vs seed-stage rounds. Key Insights from Jesús Salas: 🔍 Pre-Seed vs. Seed: *While each firm has its own definitions and criteria, here’s how Slauson & Co. defines the two 💲Pre-Seed: Raising $750K - $2M at a valuation of $5M - $10M Company focus should be on early traction, like initial revenue and product development. 💲Seed: Raising $2M - $4M at a valuation of $10M - $20M+ Emphasis on scaling revenue and expanding the customer base. 💡Tips for Founders: 1️⃣ Inquire about an investor’s most recent deal and why they’re excited about it. The types of companies a firm invested in years ago may be very different from what they invest in now. 2️⃣ Choose investors who share your vision and can add strategic value beyond capital. 3️⃣ Have a clear roadmap with defined milestones. 4️⃣ A talented team and product momentum is expected as you move from pre-seed to seed. 5️⃣ Stay aware of broader economic conditions and their impact on your fundraising strategy. 6️⃣ Explore grants, pitch competitions, crowdfunding, and business loans alongside venture capital. 📺 Interested in learning more about round dynamics? Check out our full discussion here: https://lnkd.in/gWHaVWDf 💬 Have Questions or Topic Suggestions? Drop them in the comments below. Slauson in Houston, Texas. Last week, we had the pleasure of hosting founders, operators, and venture capitalists at the newly opened Pressed Roots blowout bar in Houston. It was a fun and intimate networking event filled with connection, empowerment, and pampering. 20 lucky attendees received complimentary blowouts from the amazing Pressed Roots team. A huge thank you to our partners Black Women in Venture Capital and SVB for their sponsorship and support. This event served as a reminder of the magic that happens when we create inclusive spaces.

Applying for jobs shouldn't be a full-time job. Traditional job recruiting can be incredibly frustrating and time-consuming—especially for hourly workers who often face unnecessary barriers like lengthy applications and misleading job listings that aren't even accurate for their location. Our portfolio company, Gigs, is working to change that. As Gigs’s founder Allen Narcisse put it: “We want to make it as simple as possible. Put the job on the phone, get rid of the resume, get rid of the application, and help the job seeker showcase their skills. And then show them the jobs that they actually qualify for so they can hear back and be successful.” Here's what sets Gigs apart: 📱Simplified Job Search By focusing on mobile accessibility and user-friendly design, Gigs makes it easy for job seekers to find and apply for jobs directly from their phones, even on the go. 📝 Transparency Gigs believes in honesty and clarity. It enables companies to detail job roles comprehensively so job seekers fully understand the requirements and how they fit. 🎯 Smart Job Matching Using an advanced matching algorithm, Gigs connects job seekers with positions that resonate with their skills and experiences. The system learns from a job seeker’s preferences, making every click more productive than the last. ⏱️ Time-Saving Features Job seekers can apply to up to 40 jobs with just one application form. After adding multiple jobs to a 'cart,' Gigs will auto-apply to all selected jobs. This allows job seekers to spend more time preparing for interviews instead of filling out repetitive applications. 💡In what ways do you think technology can further improve the job search process for hourly workers? 📺 Watch the full Slauson Story to learn more about Gigs and their journey: https://lnkd.in/geAdmVZY 🌟 Explore Gigs here: https://getgigs.co/
