We have signal acquisition! 🛰️ Last night, the United States Space Force successfully launched the first-ever Rapid Response Trailblazer mission for GPS III SV-07 from Space Launch Complex 40 at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station! This mission, executed in less than 5 months (compared to the usual 24-month timeline) delivers next-gen technology to incorporate advanced signal protection and increase our GPS constellation to 31 satellites and 7 in reserve. 🧠 Knowledge Nuggets: #GPS is a constellation of orbiting satellites that provides position, navigation, and timing data to 6 billion military and civilian daily users! GPS satellites orbit the earth every 12 hours, emitting continuous navigation 24/7/365. So, next time you ask Siri for directions, remember little ole SLD 45 put them all on orbit. 🤓 👉 More info HERE: https://bit.ly/3BKYQnQ 2024 Launch Count: 8️⃣ 9️⃣

The 2nd annual #GuardianArena kicked off today at NASA's Kennedy Space Center. Our SLD 45 team representing the Eastern Range (aka the Beastern Range 💪) launched into action against 34 other United States Space Force teams from around the world. Good luck Team 28, AKA Team Shark Launch: 1st Lt. Mario Aguilar, Alfred Fordan, 2nd Lt. Isaac Hummel, and MSgt. Andrew Solito! Stay tuned here for more updates. 🚀 #Yeehaw #SpaceCoast #Winners

Our launch directors are the final approving authority for every rocket launched from the Eastern Range. They use information, such as the safety data supplied by the range operations commanders from 1 ROPS, in order to gauge whether a launch countdown needs to pause, 'hold', or whether the rocket is go for launch at T-minus zero. Launch count: 8️⃣ 7️⃣ And no, unfortunately, launch directors no longer paint their faces blue for each launch 😉

🎶 Brrrr! It's cold in here, there must be some rockets in the atmosphere 🎶 We know it's been chilly out here, but launches still warm our hearts. Did you know there are certain weather conditions that have to be met for rockets to be launched? Some of them are: 💨 Sustained winds below 30MPH at the 162-foot level of the launch pad ⚡ Thunderstorms have to be more than 10 miles away 🌡️ Temperatures need to be above freezing 🚭 No smoke clouds in the flight path The 45th Weather Squadron provides weather forecasts before, during, and after all launch activities on the Eastern Range: https://lnkd.in/eu6CRgW8 #IYKYK #RealTalk #Frozen
